Introduction of Oil and Gas Engineering

This article highlights the type of rocks and hydrocarbon properties. The type of rocks
are divided into three, which are differ in the processes that lead their formation, which
include processes such as melting, cooling and compacting. These processes can be
represented through the rock cycle, which comprehensively describes the synthesis of
and transformation between these rock types over time.
According to the author of this article, one of the type of rocks is Igneous Rock.
Igneous Rock form directly from the cooling of magma through the exothermic process
and involves a phase change from the liquid to the solid. Type of Igneous Rock including
extrusive, intrusive and plutonic.
Meanwhile, Sedimentary Rock are formed by the deposition of material at the Earth’s
surface and within bodies of water. This rock classified into three formations, such as
clastic, chemical and organic sedimentary rocks.
Move on to Metamorphic Rock, the rock become unstable due to the environmental
conditions depends if were heated, pressurized and recrystallized. For example, granite
was the parent rocks to gneiss.
For oil and gas exploration, injection of water or gas are commonly use technique and
only take for several months or years to recover. These techniques used not only for
increase production, but usually leads to quicker reservoirs decline and less total
production.
The conclusion, by knowing about this subject leads to the future pleasures with the
various technologies that have been explored. At the same time, peoples can renew the
standard of living with the advancement of the oil and gas industry.
