Techniques in Storing Meat
Meat is considered as a perishable food. If not stored properly it can be harmful to humans if consumed.
Meat spoils quickly at room temperature and it must be stored in a refrigerated environment.
EXAMPLE
1. Refrigerator storage
Refrigerator keeps perishable foods such as dairy, beef, fish, poultry, eggs, fruits and vegetables
at a cool temperature. Refrigerated foods can dry out and lose nutrients and taste if they are not properly
wrapped. Food should be wrapped in plastic, foil, wax paper or placed in closely sealed containers.
2. Freezer storage
The temperature in the freezer should be 18ºC or below for optimum freezing and storage. Frozen
foods should be stored in their original packaging. Frozen food should be wrapped in moisture-proof,
vapor-proof packaging to maintain its freshness.
