Prepare by Benjamin Bloom together with his associates, the Taxonomy of Instructional
Objectives is categorized into three (3) domains; Cognitive, Affective, and Psychomotor.

I. Cognitive Domain - The objectives in the cognitive domain is categorized into 6,

which arranged hierarchically from lowest to highest or from the simplest to the most
complex forms. The Cognitive Domain is related to mental or thinking processes.

Objectives of Cognitive Domain:

1. Knowledge objectives includes remembering terms. Such as facts, methods,

theories, concepts, and principles. Identify, label, list, define, match, name,
select, state, and recite are some of verbs that describe the learning outcomes in
this level.

2. Comprehension objectives has some action words that describe the learning
outcomes are; explain, infer, predict, estimate, paraphrase, convert, and rewrite.
In this level, the understanding towards words, phrases, definitions, and
abstractions is being referred.

3. Application objectives require the use of previously acquired information in a

new setting. Compute, modify, operate, solve, demonstrate, transfer, organize,
and use are some of the verbs that describe the learning outcomes in this level.

4. Analysis describes the learning outcomes with diagram, differentiate,

distinguish, select, separate, relate, and illustrate. This level represents the
process of breaking down the whole to its part of elements.

5. Synthesis objectives require combining parts to a whole new. Compose,

organize, create, design, devise, categorize, formulate, and summarize are some
of the action words that describe the learning outcomes in this level.

justify, judge, and validate are some of the action words that describe the
learning outcomes in this level.

five (5), receiving, responding, valuing, organization, and characterization. Affective
domain describes instructional objectives that reflect feelings, emotions, and values.

appreciate, believe, and commit are some of terms of writing objectives in this
level.

4. Organization includes conceptualization of a value and organization of value
