According to Techopedia, what is color value? - definition from Techopedia
2016, A color value is essentially a shade of lightness in color theory. IT workers and
others may interchangeably use the phrases "lightness" and "color value." Color values
are frequently shown in a chart or graph to assist developers or others in selecting
among several precise shades of color for use in visual projects.
A previous study of Jabar et., al entitled “Color and fastness properties of
mordanted Bridelia ferruginea B dyed cellulosic fabric” in 2020, in using Bridelia as
dyestuff the color developed on dyed cotton fabrics ranged between light and deep
unmordanted dyed cotton has the highest L* value and lightest color. This further
confirms that mordant enhances dye hue.
In conclusion to his study, Fabrics colored using calcium chloride as a mordant
have a darker hue than those dyed with alum. As a result, their dye-uptake and color
strength (K/S) are arranged in the same order. The K/S value of fabric dyed with Alum
is 43.71 percent greater than that of fabric colored without it. In a dye house,
ferruginea B dye has the potential to supplement synthetic colors
However, to determine the color value from the chico branches dyestuff the
researchers made used of a mobile application “Color Picker” which can detect and
analyze the color value of the dyed fabrics.
As a result, the dyed samples using the alum as mordants in silk has 97%-94%
dark chestnut color and also in poplin which also use the same mordant has 94%-91%
rosy brown to dark chestnut color which means these dyed fabrics belongs to common
colors.
Moreover, the dyed samples using the copper sulphate as mordant in silk has
92%-88% dark chestnut to wine color and the poplin fabric which also has the same
mordant has 96%-92% dark chestnut color. Overall, these dyed fabric’s color belongs
to common colors.
