A TIMELINE OF DR.

JOSE RIZAL’S LIFE

1861

 On June 19, the seventh child of Francisco


Mercado Rizal and Teodora Alonzo Y Quintos
was born, who was then named Jose Protacio
Rizal Y Alonzo Realonda.
 On June 22, Rizal received the sacrament of
baptism

1864

 Young Jose Rizal’s first teacher is his mother


Teodora, as he learned the alphabet at the
age of three

1869

 Jose Rizal wrote his first poem entitled “Sa


Aking Mga Kababata”. The piece's central
idea was affection for one's own dialect, which
was Rizal's first manifestation of nationalism.

1876

 Jose Rizal received his Bachelor in Arts


Degree in Ateneo de Manila, with a general
excellence in academics.

1878

 Jose Rizal enrolls at University of Sto. Tomas


for a preparatory and proper medicine course.

1882

 Through the financial help of Paciano, Rizal’s


brother, he was able to sail off Spain and
enrolls at Unebesidad Central de Madrid for
another course in medicine.
1885

 Jose Rizal went to Paris in order to practice


ophthalmology.

1887

 Jose Rizal’s Novel, Noli Me Tangere released its first


copies and became available to the public.
