ACTIVITY NO. 8 FOR LESSON NO.11

PART 1 (50 POINTS)

A.

DEPREDATION OF ENVIRONMENT
(DEFILING OF SEA/DUMPING OF URBAN WASTES)
-

B.

Our community has a lot of fishermen who relies on marine resources as their
livelihood. That is why this environmental problem is relevant, should be
addressed, and must be taken an action, because if not, the marine resources
would be at risk, and so is the health and livelihood of people.

C.
D.

Lend a hand to save the ocean

PART 2 (50 POINTS)

a. Explain the Environmental problem you have chosen. (Answer in a sentence form) 10pts

ANSWER:
One of the most prevalent problems in our community is the depredation of the
environment, which is particularly caused by defiling of sea or marine pollution. Chemicals
and plastic garbage, the majority of which originate from terrestrial sources and are carried
or thrown into the ocean, make up coastal erosion. Because humans have many different
activities that produce too much waste, and pollutants, people have no longer adequate
places for their waste disposal. Little do they know, this destroys the environment, the
welfare of all organisms, and economic systems all over the world. The consequences of
these environmental problems are felt by humanity. Pollutants are ingested by small
organisms, which are then consumed by bigger animals, most of which are seafood that we
eat later. Pollutants from infected animals can be accumulated in human tissue, causing
lengthy health problems, cancer, and birth deformities.

b. If given a chance to solve this problem, what would be your suggested solution or
solutions? (Minimum of 7 sentences and Maximum of 10 sentences) 20pts

ANSWER:
If I were given a chance to solve this problem, I would definitely suggest that the local
government must first utilize action and focus on creating concrete and effective plans,
practically legislation for waste management. Changes in our personal habits are vital, but
they are insufficient to address ocean pollution waste. We also need legislation that lowers
plastic manufacturing, optimizes trash collection, and holds plastic producers accountable
for their waste. A law that restricts, charges, or prohibits the use of unneeded single-use
plastic products such as plastic bags, takeaway containers, and bottles, as well as other
wastes that take a long time to decompose. Furthermore, from what I have noticed, one of
the major reasons why people chose to dispose of their waste in the ocean, is because
there is no concrete area for them to dispose of such. That is why, aside from these, I would
also suggest that the government and private sectors must collaborate in creating a proper
disposal site. Nevertheless, I would also want to propose seminar programs that will help
people learn and be educated about the harmful effects environmental depredation has, as
well as the initiatives they could take in their households to lessen waste production.
c. What is more important: Environment or Development (support your answer) 20 points.

ANSWER:

The environment must take precedence over everything else because humanity is
inextricably linked to it; we are a portion of it, and by safeguarding it, we secure ourselves.
When we conserve the environment, we are eventually helping to raise people's living
standards. Everyone will profit if the environment is prioritized above all else; yet, if
development is taken first, it cannot guarantee a benefit for everyone. Development is a
good thing, however, if we imagine a world of more developed and industrialize countries
without the presence of the environment, it will be completely useless and unsustainable.
Everything we produce has an environmental intervention. There could still be
development without sacrificing the environment. Thus, I stand with the idea that if we put
the environment first, the development will follow.
