SET 1 SOLUTION

1) Solution:
Cost price of A = Rs. 1400

Selling price of A Rs.1680

Cost price of D = Rs. 1200

Selling price of D = Rs.1260

Required profit = (1680 – 1400) + (1260 – 1200) = Rs. 340

2) Solution:Required average marks obtained = 452 × (75/100) × (1/6) = 56.5

Hence option B is correct

3) Solution:Bakul, Chaitanya and Gauri scored the highest marks in more than one subject
Hence option A is correct

4) Solution:Required percentage = (70 × 100)/64 = 109.38

Hence option D is correct

5) Solution:Total marks scored by Ankit = 90 + 96 + 100.5 + 73.75 + 52.5 + 48.75 + 51 + 35 = 547.5

Similarly
Total marks cored by Bakul=726.25
Total marks scored by Chaitanya = 647.25
Total marks scored by Deepali =554.75
Total marks scored by Gauri =614.5
Total marks scored by Himani = 525
Thus highest marks is scored by Bakul

SET 2 SOLUTION
Solution:

Number of males working in marketing = 100 × = 28

Similarly,

1)Hence, the total male employees = 988

2) Number of females working in HR department = 400
3) Required ratio = 160 : 380 = 8 : 19
4) In, Marketing department lowest number of females are working.
5) Total = 988 + 1112 = 2100
SET 3 SOLUTION

1) Solution:
Cost price of A = Rs. 1400

Selling price of A Rs.1680

Cost price of D = Rs. 1200

Selling price of D = Rs.1260

Required profit = (1680 – 1400) + (1260 – 1200) = Rs. 340

2) Solution:
Marked price of two units each of B and C together = 2
Cost price of three units each of A and D together = 3

Required percentage = = 7.70%

3) Solution:
Cost price of C = Rs. 1000
Cost price of D = Rs. 1200
Profit on C = Rs. 360
Profit on D = Rs. X
Overall profit percent = 20%
Applying profit percent formula, we get

⇒X

4) Solution:

Average cost price of A and E Rs.1600

Average marked price of B and D Rs. 1900

Required ratio

5) Solution:
Cost price of five units of E Rs.9000
Selling price of five units of E = Marked Price of four units of E = 2400 Rs. 9600

Required profit%
SET 4 SOLUTION

1)Solution:

Total population of all the five cities of Kangra =

Population of Dharaman =
Number of children in Dharaman =
Number of girls in Dharaman =
Number of men and women combined in Dharaman =

Number of women in Dharaman =

Number of men in Dharaman =

Male population of Dharaman =
Female population of Dharaman =
Therefore, required difference =
So option (b) is the correct answer.

2) Solution:

Total population of all the five cities of Kangra =

Population of Jiya =
Literate population of Jiya =
Illiterate population of Jiya =

Population of Chandpur =
Literate population of Chandpur =
Illiterate population of Chandpur =
Therefore, required difference =
So option (d) is the correct answer.

3) Solution:

Total population of all the five cities of Kangra =

Population of Panchrukhi =
Population of Panchrukhi that speaks English =
Population of Panchrukhi that speaks Punjabi =
Population of Panchrukhi that speaks only English =
Population of Panchrukhi that speaks only Punjabi = 40824 - 7212 = 33612
Population of Panchrukhi that speak neither of the two languages =
90720 - 24540 - 33612 - 7212 = 25356
Therefore, required difference =
So option (c) is the correct answer.
4) Solution:

Total population of all the five cities of Kangra =

Population of Panchrukhi = 0.24 x 378000 = 90720
Population of Panchrukhi migrated to Baijnath = 0.1 x 90720 = 9072
Population of Nagrota migrated to Baijnath = 0.15 x 60480 = 9072

Population of Baijnath before migration =

So option (a) is the correct answer.

5)Solution:

Total population of all the five cities of Kangra =

Population of Alhilal in 2017 =

Male population of Alhilal in 2017 =

Male population of Alhilal in 2018 = 25200 x 1.32 = 33264
So option (c) is the correct answer.

SET 5 SOLUTION
COMMON EXPLANATION

Let total no. of male students = M

And total no. of female students = F
Let no. of male students in class 1, class 2, class 3, class 4 and class 5 be = m1, m2, m3,
m4 and m5 respectively.
Let no. of female students in class 1, class 2, class 3, class 4 and class 5 be = f 1, f2, f3,
f4 and f5 respectively.

According to question,
m2 – m4 = 78 …….. (1)
and m2 + m4 = 330 ………. (2)
Adding (1) and (2) we get:
2m2 = 408
⇒ m2 = 204
Putting the value of m2 in (2) we get:
204 + m4 = 330
⇒ m4 = 126
According to problem,
3% of M = m5 = 18
⇒ M = 600

m1 =
∴ m3 = M – (m1 + m2 + m4 + m5)
⇒ m3 = 600 – (75 + 204 + 126 + 18) = 177
Ratio of male to female students in the school = 4 ∶ 3
Thus, 600/F = 4/3
⇒ F = 600 × 3/4 = 450

f2 =
f3 = 250% of 50 = 125
f5 = m5 + 9 = 18 + 9 = 27
According to problem,
f4 – f1 = 36 ……….. (3)
∴ f4 + f1 = F – (f2 + f3 + f5)
⇒ f4 + f1 = 450 – (50 + 125 + 27)
⇒ f4 + f1 = 248 ………… (4)
Adding (3) and (4) we get:
2f4 = 248 + 36 ⇒ f4 = 284/2 = 142
Putting the value of f4 in (4) we get:
142 + f1 = 248 ⇒ f1 = 248 – 142 = 106

1)Total no. of students studying in class 4 = m4 + f4 = 126 + 142 = 268

2) No. of male students in class 1 = m1 = 75

No. of female students in class 2 = f2 = 50
∴ Required ratio = 75 ∶ 50 = 3 ∶ 2

3) No. of female students in class 3 = f3 = 125

No. of male students in class 3 = m3 = 177

∴ Required percentage =

4) No. of male students in class 2 = m2 = 204

No. of female students in class 2 = f2 = 50
∴ Total no. of students in class 2 = 204 + 50 = 254
No. of male students in class 3 = m3 = 177
No. of female students in class 3 = f3 = 125
∴ Total no. of students in class 7 = 177 + 125 = 302
∴ Difference between the total no. of students of class 2 and class 3,
= 302 – 254 = 48

5) No. of female students in the school = F = 450

No. of male students in the school = M = 600
∴ Total no. of students in the school = F + M = 450 + 600 = 1050
No. of male students in class 5 = 18

∴ Required percentage =
