Review:

In the last meeting, we discussed Nouns,

right?
Yes, Miss.

Can anyone enumerate the Kinds of Nouns

that have been discoursed in our previous
class? Last meeting, we discussed about the

Concrete and Abstract Nouns.

Very good! Again, what are the differences

between concrete and abstract nouns? Abstract nouns refer to intangible

things that don’t exist as physical

objects while concrete nouns

represent something that can be seen,

touched, tasted, heard, or smelt.

Awesome! You have effectively grasped the

lesson we had the last meeting.
Motivation:

Now, are you ready to learn a new lesson? Yes, Miss.

That is good to hear! Before I introduce to

you our lesson for today let us watch first
this video. Kindly pay attention and observe
how the two people in the video converse
with each other. Is that clear? Yes, Miss.

(The video played)

Now, what do you observe in the video, Possible answers:

class?
The salesperson in the video is deaf.

The salesman cannot talk.

The customer was amazed that the worker

in the cafe is mute or deaf.

Exactly, how did the deaf entertain his Through hand gestures, Miss.
customer?

That is right. The worker in the cafe used

No, Miss. He can talk yet he exhibited
hand gestures to communicate. How about
some of his hand gestures for the salesman
the customer? Was he a deaf as well?
to understand him.

Correct! Although it was evident that his

hand signals are not that good, he still tried
to have an effective communication with the
deaf. Would you also do the same if you
Yes, Miss. I would be very patient for us to
were the customer, class?
have an effective communication. That is
very important to sustain inclusivity,
fairness and peace in our society amidst any
deficiencies that our fellows may have.

Ver well said! We have to be more

understanding always as the situation
denotes that speaking is not only the means

That is our discussion for today, the two

kinds of communication the verbal and
nonverbal.

I. Activity:

Before we dwell on the difference between

verbal and nonverbal communication, let us
first have an activity called “Pass the
message!”

Activity 1: Pass the Message!

There will be two types of this activity. One

of these is whispering and the other one is
acting. The mechanics are the following:

Mechanics:

1. The class will be divided into 4. Groups 1

and 2 will be playing Pass the Message!
Whispering Edition (WE) and groups 3 and
4 will be for Acting Edition (AE).

2. A message will be given to the group

leaders and it will be passed through
whispering by groups 1 and 2 and acting by
groups 3 and 4.

3. Group representatives who are standing

last in the line will come to the board and
write the message from the leader.

Pointing System:
