Motivation

I will present pictures in the screen and

verbalized the message that the image is
trying to convey.
Yes, Teacher
It that clear, class?

(Expectedly, they may have different

understandings. Therefore, all answers will be
entertained.)

(The teacher will present the photos in the

screen)

Slide 1

Who would like to interpret this picture? (Angeli raised a hand)

Yes Angeli? The picture denotes the prohibition of

smoking miss.
Correct Angeli! It is a “No Smoking Sign”
Slide 2

(Diana volunteered)

How about this one?

Exactly! That’s right Diana.

The picture is a sign of “No Access for
Slide 3 Pedestrians” miss.

(Hiezel raised a hand)

The image portrays the “No touch sign” miss.

The last picture is a sign of?

Very good, Hiezel! That’s correct!

(Jea raised a hand)
Now what do you think is the importance of
knowing the meaning of non-verbal signs?

Knowing the importance of non-verbal signs

Yes Jea? miss would help us in keeping ourselves safe
as the prohibitions presented earlier. If we
don’ have the knowledge about it, we may be
put in danger.

Yes, regine? (Regine raised a hand)

Aside from what Jea said, I would also want

to emphasize the importance of non-verbal
communication for traffic control based on
my observation as a motorcycle driver. The
importance of nonverbal communication is in
traffic signs and signals. In such a situation,
nonverbal communication is crucial as it
prompts instant responses from both drivers
and pedestrians. No doubt that a red or green
signal is a much better way of conveying a

message compared to reading sentences.
How about the importance of verbal
communication? For instance, someone
doesn’t know the meaning of the sign
displayed in a specific place and he/she asked
you about its denotation, what do you think is
the importance of the effectivity of you
explanation?

Yes Cristine?
(Cristine raised a hand)

I really have to deliver the meaning of the

sign clearly miss because the understanding
and actions of the curious person who wants
to know the meaning of sign depends on my
verbal explanation. Thus, I really have to be
competent in letting the person understand the
sign by having a medium volume of voice and

utilizing appropriate diction in explaining.
It is indeed important for all of us to acquire
the competence of verbal and non-verbal
communication as it is needed in our day-
today life situation.
