Biographical characteristics
Starbucks’ organizational culture is one of the most distinct characteristics of the firm. A
company’s organizational or corporate culture widely influences employees and business
performance. Starbucks requires employees to be at least 16 years old while some locations
allow minors as young as 14 but the average age of an employee is 24 years old. 70% of
employees are women, while 30% are men.
The most to the least common ethnicity of employee is White, followed by Hispanic or Latino,
Black or African American, Asian, American Indian or Alaskan Native, Hawaiian or another
Pacific Islander. On average, employees at Starbucks stay with the company for 3.8 years.
Starbucks’ employee has many abilities and jobs such as barista, shift supervisor, shift
manager, store manager, and assistant store manager.
Starbucks recognizes the individual journeys of their employees with disabilities, and values
