1. Provide and explain one by one the indicators which prompted the need to Boracay island to
be closed for rehabilitation.

The reason for the island's closure is a lack of knowledge about how to properly dispose of the waste

water. They don't even understand the distinction between the two types of sewage systems. The closure's

primary goal is to rehabilitate the island so that it can attract more tourists in the future. Also, to educate

both tourists and locals on how to properly care for the island, so that when they return to Boracay, they will

know what to do and what not to do on the island.

Boracay Island is one of the Philippines' most popular tourist destinations. White, powdery sand,

turquoise water, and a breathtaking sunset are just a few of the adjectives used to describe the island resort.

For good reason, visitors refer to it as an "Island Paradise." Unfortunately, this is no longer the case these

days. The white, powdery sand is still there. You can still see the breathtaking sunset. The turquoise water,

however, is no longer clean or safe for swimming or other water activities. Marine life is also in jeopardy

right now. According to recent inspections, the seawater surrounding the island is contaminated with

coliform bacteria. Human waste and kitchen runoffs are dumped directly into the sea without being filtered.

Many commercial establishments and tourist attractions were discovered to lack a proper sewerage system.

Similarly, the natural environment on the island is being altered indiscriminately. Cuts are made in rock

formations to make way for tourist facilities. Encroachment into forested areas, as well as the construction

of concrete structures in places where they should not be, are on the rise. All of this was done for financial

gain.
2. Explain the effects of the Boracay rehabilitation program to the three (3) dimensions of

sustainable tourism (environmental, economic, and social).

The Effects of the Boracay Rehabilitation Program to the Three (3) Dimensions of Sustainable Tourism

Environmental

 Support research and development of good environmental practices and management systems that

will have an impact on the operation of travel and tourism businesses, as well as visitor behavior

and destinations.

 Citizen science volunteers can help with environmental and species monitoring.

 Raise awareness of the value of natural resources and protect those that have little or are seen as a

cost rather than a benefit.

Economic

 Encourage new tourism businesses and diversify the local economy.

 Encourage the production, sale, and provision of goods and services on a local level.

 Gain access to new markets and foreign currency.

 Produce a monetary benefit for a nation, region, or community to strengthen the commitment to the

conservation of the natural area and its wildlife.

Social/Community

 For visitors, interpret values, conservation issues, and management issues.

 Encourage people to value and be proud of their community's culture and protected areas.

 Raise the living standards of the locals.

 Increase the visibility of conservation on a local, national, and international scale.

3. How can this problem be avoided from happening again should you be in charge of Boracay’s

Rehabilitation?

This call of action for the stakeholder’s government units outlines the framework. For the sustainable

tourism conversation and social responsibility for Boracay hailing less conversation it’s time to action this
year proposition focuses on providing Education and trainings program on sustainability and capacity

training for the Community public and private stakeholders LGUs and businesses.

The implementation of conversation agreement has become the top mission of the Initiative. Points for

good governance carrying capacity and zoning limit have Been identified likewise water use efficiency

utilization of renewable energy and Wastewater management have also ongoing ordonnances on the island

with Support from partners like zero carbon resorts. Green hotels. And clean blue Asia the Boracay

initiative cam also mitigate disasters through disaster prevention and management efforts.

The main problem are the people who continuously ruining the environment that's why discipline is

very important to avoid environmental problems and preserve the beauty of Boracay because this is indeed

our country's treasure and incase the problem rises again we won’t stop rehabilitating Boracay but

prevention is better than cure so as warmly as today we will strengthen rules in Boracay for a better tourist

spot for all.
