ANSWER:
The tourism destination that we picked is Boracay island. The
development theory that is evident in the island of Boracay is the
modernization theory because some people say that Boracay is not an island
anymore because of so many modern infrastructures built within the island
of Boracay. Also this theory emphasizes that tourism contributes to an area’s
economic progress and transformation from traditional to modern, just like
here in Boracay, in the past few years, Boracay is not that modern when it
comes to accommodation services, the accommodation in that time was just
a nipa hut or a cabin that is made from light materials while in this time,
there are so many modern infrastructures built in the island of Boracay.
The planning platform that we think that is evident in Boracay is the
Adaptancy Platform because this platform acknowledges the negative
impacts of mass tourism in Boracay. However, it is also emphasizing that the
negative impacts of tourism bring can be minimized just like what happened
in Boracay. In 2018 Boracay closed because of lack of cleaning or
maintenance of different establishments and for that their sewerage system
is going to the shoreline, so, the government decided to close it. 6 months
after, Boracay is finally open into public, government set rules or regulations
to different establishments for them to not damage the beauty of Boracay. It
is said here that this platform encourages the pursuance of alternative

 tourism, which can be described as a low-volume and low-impact form of
tourism. And it has 2 sets the environmentally oriented tourism, and the
socially oriented tourism. In that 2 mentioned, it can greatly help Boracay to
sustain its beauty and not be damage again by enhancing the welfare of the
environment, such as ecotourism and green tourism. Also it enhances the
welfare of society, such as community based tourism, and volunteer tourism
in the island of Boracay.
The planning approach that we think that is evident on the island of
Boracay is the Product-led Development. It is because Boracay is now
developing and improving when it comes to building infrastructures, facilities
and amenities that can greatly impact to attract tourists. This approach
simply supports the idea “build something and the market will automatically
take notice of it” just like in Boracay there are so many infrastructures built
to attract tourists to come again and again. Boracay innovates something
that can attract tourists from coming there.
