 Tourism Development Theory

MODERNIZATION THEORY
Base on the destination that we choose, we use a modernization theory for the tourism
development. The Boracay island is one of the famous local tourist destinations in the
Philippines with white sandy beaches stretching for four kilometers. The beach located in the
western side of the island from Balabag to Manoc-Manoc is the most popular tourist spot. In
island tourism, there has been a move to plan tourism areas in an integrated manner that
promotes integrated coastal zone management (ICZM) through formal planning. The goal of
ICZM is to enable the use and development of coastal and marine areas while promoting the
protection of coastal/ marine areas and resources in respect to the sustainability of the
environment for present and future generations. It also aims to improve the quality of life of
people who depend on coastal resources, thereby promoting social and economic equity while
maintaining the biological diversity and productivity of coastal ecosystems. Further, it aims to
slow and hopefully reverse the negative impacts of unlawful exploitation of coastal resources.

 Tourism Planning Platform

ADAPTATION PLATFORM

We choose adaptation platform to the destination that minimize the number of tourist to
solve the problem into a right way and to improve into a successful. The island is a beautiful
destination for the tourist who will enjoy their summer vacation or holiday season. We need
to know the negative impact to conduct a study on how to find a way to solve the problem.
The one problem on the Island is the pollution, because most of the tourist is very stubborn,
they’d not followed the roles of beach so that, many areas are affected cause of the sewage
and waste management system. Many areas were damaged due to garbage scattered and piled
up in one area. But, there are many solutions to make the operation in the place, it is
necessary to make a plan on how to implement the development o f the island. The tourism
management need to be having a team work to perform hygiene in the area and restore the
former appearance and beauty of the tourist destination and to use a creative way to maintain
beauty and peaceful environment.
