Novel approaches
While the solvent-based CO2-cap-
ture systems are overall the most de-
veloped, several other CO2-capture
technologies have gained significant
interest and investment. The follow-
ing describe some examples.
Molten salts. Mantel (Boston,
Mass.; www.mantelcapture.com) re-
cently received seed funding for its
CO2-capture technology, which is
based on molten borate salts. The
borate salts are in the liquid phase
at high temperatures (~600ºC), such
as those found in industrial heating,
cement, steel and hydrogen pro-
duction applications. In the capture
phase, CO2 is absorbed into the liq-
uid salts, generating heat that can be
recovered as high-quality heat. This
heat can drive steam production.
The approach can reduce energy
losses by more than 60%, and over-
all costs by half, says Cameron Hal-

CHEM-FEED CD1 Multi-Diaphragm

Pump Doses Harsh Chemicals
T he CHEM-FEED CD1 Multi Diaphragm Chemical Dosing Pump
offers a top performing solution for meeting the challenges of
dosing harsh and / or gas forming chemical. Dual Diaphragms de-
liver full stroke technology that will not lose prime, making CD1
ideal for pumping chemicals that off-gas (Peracetic Acid, Sodium
Hypochlorite)
The CD1’s exclusive cutting-edge Hyperdrive Technology allows
for alternating pumping action between two diaphragms: when
one diaphragm is in the suction phase, the other is in the discharge
phase which results in near continuous feed and smooth, precise,
and dependable chemical dosing. No vapor lock and no lost prime.
The manifold design allows for multiple configuration possibili-
ties. Suction and discharge ports can be positioned on the left and
right side of the pump.
CHEM-FEED CD1 is equipped with an energy efficient brushless
DC motor that won’t overheat and helps achieve a large turndown
ratio of 2000:1 for extreme accuracy. CD1 has an output range of

Kemutec KEK® Cone Mills Process Difficult-to-Grind Materials
KEK® Cone Mills by Kemutec, part of the Schenck Process Group, are ideal
for fatty, heat sensitive, sticky, moist and other difficult-to-grind applications in
the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. The energy-efficient mills minimize
noise, dust and heat problems typically associated with traditional mills.
The KEK® Cone Mills feature a gentle, grinding action, which helps maintain a
close particle size range with minimal fines generation. The residence time re-
quired to process materials is very short, resulting in negligible heat generation
while drastically reducing build-up of those difficult-to-grind products.
KEK® Cone Mills are available in 7 sizes ranging from 3” to 25” (75 mm to 680
mm) cone diameters with process rates of up to 15 tph. The cone mills can be
customized to meet individual customer needs.
