Worksheet for Epidemiological Environment

Questions:

1. Identify and analyze the root cause/origin of a disease in human (e.g.

COVID19, Dengue, etc.) in relation to human impact on biodiversity and
environment. Use the graphic organizer for your answers to the questions.

1.1. Where and how did this disease originate?

1.2. What changes did it contribute to the biodiversity and the
Earth’s environment?

Origin of COVID19

The Black Death pandemic originated in Asia

particularly in China in the early to mid-1300s.
Bubonic Plague, an infectious illness produced by
the bacillus Yersinia pestis, is thought to have
caused the Black Death. The disease was most
likely transmitted from rodents to humans by the
bite of fleas. Yersinia pestis is a gram-negative,
non-motile, coccobacillus bacterium without
spores that is related to both Yersinia
pseudotuberculosis and Yersinia enterocolitica. It
is a facultative anaerobic organism that can infect
humans via the Oriental rat flea

Cause/Causes:

Yersinia pestis, an infectious fever, is the causative

agent of the Bubonic Plague; it is spread from infected
fleas to humans. This is also a gram-negative, non-
motile, coccobacillus bacterium without spores that is
related to both Yersinia pseudotuberculosis and
Yersinia enterocolitica. It is a facultative anaerobic
organism that can infect humans via the Oriental rat
flea.

the human race. There was a habitat
loss for the reason that people left
their land. There was a natural
selection event eliminating many of
the weak and frail from each diversity.
Only those who are stronger beings
had survived the plague. It doesn’t
benefit the environment for it caused
the land to be desiccated.
2.  As a professional, how will you lessen the effects of social stigma on
patients infected by the said disease (e.g. COVID-19, Dengue, etc.) that is
brought about by the endemic, epidemic, or pandemic?

As a professional, I will use my voice to ease the social stigma amongst

patients brought upon by this pandemic. I will use my credibility as a health
professional to share my knowledge about “must- know facts” to make the
people understand more about the disease and its practical measures. Making
people knowledgeable about medical facts would not just make them wiser but
would also lessen their discrimination among people who are infected. Using
the social platform is a good way to reach many people wherein I will spread
charity and hope. Making a creative video with content about the disease is a
good way to persuade people. I will show empathy and I will speak up against
people who have nothing good to say. And as a human being, I will support
these patients also in regards to their mental health and I will listen to their
worries so they could get the emotional support that they need.
