use this module. You also need to keep track of the learners' progress
while allowing them to manage their own learning at home.
Furthermore, you are expected to encourage and assist the learners as
they do the tasks included in the module.

For the learner:


As a learner, you must learn to become responsible of your own
learning. Take time to read, understand, and perform the different
activities in the module.
As you go through the different activities of this module be
reminded of the following:
1. Use the module with care. Do not put unnecessary mark/s on any
part of the module. Use a separate sheet of paper in answering the
exercises.

Health-related Fitness Components

Health-related Fitness Components

Cardiovascular Endurance – is the ability of the heart and lungs to work

together to provide the needed oxygen and fuel to the body during sustained

workloads. Examples would be jogging, cycling and swimming.

Muscular Strength – is the amount of force a muscle can produce.

Examples would be the bicep curl, leg press and push up.

Muscular Endurance – is the ability of the muscles to perform continues

without fatiguing. Examples would be cycling and sit up test.

Flexibility – is the ability of each joint to move through the available range of

motion for a specific joint. Examples would be stretching individual muscle or

the ability to perform certain functional movements such as lunge, sit and

reach.

Body Composition – is the amount of fat mass compared to lean muscle

mass, bone and organs.

Instruction: Read carefully and do the following instructions.

1. Wear comfortable clothes necessary for doing exercises like T-shirt and
jogging pants.
2. Don’t forget to do warm up to prepare the muscles before performing the
exercise.
3. Perform the following exercises to enhance cardiovascular and muscular
health:

- Staircase Exercise
- Push-ups

- 20sec. elbow plank
- Leg raises

4. You may use your book or other references for you to be guided on how to
execute the given exercises properly.
5. While doing the exercises, don’t forget to take some videos for
documentation.

1. Physical Fitness - It is a set of goals that people have or achieved that
relate to their ability to perform a physical activity.
2. Health-related fitness involves exercise activities that you do in order
to try to improve your physical health and stay healthy.
3. There are five Health-related Fitness Component: Cardiovascular
Endurance, Muscular Strength, Muscular Endurance, Flexibility and
Body Composition.
4. Cardiovascular Endurance – It is the ability of the heart to provide
oxygen to muscles during physical activity for a prolonged period of
time.
5. Muscular Strength – It refers to the amount of force a muscle can
produce with a single maximal effort.
6. Muscular Endurance – It is the muscle’s ability to complete a
movement repetitively in a certain period of time.
7. Flexibility – It defined as the range of motions of joints or the ability of
joints to move freely.
8. Body Composition – It is used to describe the percentage of fat, bone,
water, and muscle in human body.
