ACTIVITY 5

Directions:
Read and analyze what is being ask below.

Question:
In a tabular form measure the following objects using ruler and tape measure in centimeter:
short bond paper; pencil not sharpened; adult toothbrush; screwdriver; comb. Then, explain
the difference between the two measuring tools use in terms of the object being measured
into.

Result:
Measuring Tools
Objects Being
Measured Ruler Tape Measure
Short Bond paper

280 cm 28 cm

Pencil

200.4 cm 20.4 cm
Adult Toothbrush

190.5 cm 19.5 cm
Screwdriver

200.5 cm 20.5 cm
Comb

180 cm 18 cm

If you will observe the result above, you can see that both results are different. Even though both
were measured in centimeters, the difference between objects measured using a ruler and those
measured with a tape measure is still different. Why? It's because my ruler has a 10-centimeter
starting point, whilst my tape measure has a 1 centimeter starting point. If the ruler's starting
point is altered from 10 cm to 1 centimeter, the tape measure and ruler measurement will be the
same.
