A workspace must have a project activated in order to perform work such as
editing data, adding data, etc., in the application. You will notice that when
you initiate ARAMIS-DT, that many of the toolbar buttons and pulldown
menus are disabled (except for the workspace management functions). All
edit functions will remain grayed out until you have a project active.

While a saved workspace will take you back to the last location you were at

As a user, if you choose to create custom workspaces, you will eventually
need to delete those workspaces when no longer needed or you will have a
file management issue on your computer.

Introduction In the previous lesson, we went through the process of creating a workspace
in order to learn about the Menus, Toolbars, set-up options and preferences.
Let's take a closer look at the additional features of a workspace. As you
recall, you begin with these steps:
Initiate the ARAMIS-DT session.
Select database connection.
Open a new workspace.
Select a workspace template.
Workspaces can be created and/or saved at the beginning of a session or
during a session. Both options will be discussed in this lesson.
It is important to save your workspaces to your
local system rather than the server.

Display Control The Reset Legend button returns the Display, Locate and Display Scale Status
Buttons to the default values set by the administrator and removes any filters you
(continued)
have added. It does not impact Queries or Traces.
The Update Map Window button allows the active map window to be
updated with the changes made to the legend. This button is disabled by
default and when an action (a change made to the Display or Display Scale
tree view boxes) is taken in the tree view, the button is enabled and must be
selected to see the result of any changes.
Manipulating the Locatable box does not require an update to the map
window.
The Symbology button allows you to change the color of attached Raster
images or Raster Legend entries or to change the color and weight of Query
or Trace results. This button is enabled for binary raster formats. In the case
of Raster Legend entry, which has mixed formats, there must be at least one
binary raster instance in the component view.
The Save CAD Settings button saves the Display Status and Locate Status
values of levels/layers for attached CAD data. You turn these levels/layers on
or off on the Display Control. This allows you to restore these settings after
saving your workspace.
The Restore CAD Settings button restores the Display Status and Locate
Status values of levels/layers for attached CAD data. You turn these
levels/layers on or off on the Display Control. This allows you to restore
these settings after saving your workspace.
The Override Translucency drop-down list and button let you override the
specified metadata settings for foreground and background translucency on a
selected tree view leaf node or non-leaf node. Select a percent of
translucency from 0 to 100 from the drop down list. Changes are
immediately applied to the selected node of the Display Control tree and all
of its child nodes. To set more complicated translucency overrides, click the
button to display the Translucency dialog box.
Translucency is not supported for attached vector data.
The Reset Translucency Override button is used to restore translucency
settings defined by your administrator or by query definition.
The Fetch WFS button causes WFS data to be loaded for the selected legend
entry’s corresponding WFS feature within the constraints configured in
metadata. Note: Not configured for AT&T.

Workspace Student Guide
Introduction When logging into an ARAMIS-DT Workspace, the system default Legend
(Geobase Planning) is set in the default Workspace. Legends define the
Display Control setting for what you see in the Map Window.
Creating a "custom" Workspace Legend allows you to control what is
displayed in the map window without having to use your Display Control to
customize each window. Opening a new map window always defaults to the
default legend (Geobase Planning).
Example: There may be project work that you want only certain features to
display via a custom legend. An Engineer who is responsible for conduit
work might create a custom legend for Infrastructure Only.
If you make extensive changes in Display Control and want to use those
same settings in another map window, you can save time by creating a new
legend that is saved in your workspace, and apply that legend to any new
map window without having to manually go in and set the Display Control
again.
