4. Section B comprises of 4 questions of 3 marks each. Internal choice has been
provided in one question.
5. Section C comprises of 4 questions of 4 marks each. An internal choice has been
provided in one question. It contains two case study-based questions.
SECTION - A

1. For what value of k will k + 9, 2k – 1 and 2k + 7 are the consecutive terms of an A.P.?
(Or)
Find the 𝟐𝟎𝒕𝒉 term from the last term of the A.P : 8, 10, 12,….., 126.

2. Solve : 3(x2 – 6) = x ( x + 7) – 3.
3. In the figure, tangents PA and PB are drawn to a circle with centre ‘O’ from an
external point P. If CD is a tangent to the circle at E and AP = 15 cm, find the
perimeter of ∆ PCD.

4. A cup is in the form of a hemisphere surmounted by a cylinder. The height of the
cylindrical portion is 8 cm and the total height of the cup is 11.5 cm. Find the total
𝟐𝟐
surface area of the cup (use 𝝅 = ).
𝟕

5. Find the median for the following data

Height (ft) 5 – 10 10 – 15 15 – 20 20 – 25 25 – 30
No. of trees 4 3 10 8 5

6. Find the value of ‘k’ for which the roots of the equation x2 + 2k(x – 2) + 5 = 0 are real
and equal.
(Or)
𝟐 𝟏
Find the nature of roots of the quadratic equation 4x2 – x – = 0. If real roots exist
𝟑 𝟏𝟔

find them.
SECTION – B
7. A student sitting in a classroom sees a picture on the black board at a height of 1.5 m
from the horizontal level of sight. The angle of elevation of the picture is 30o. As the
picture is not clear to him, he moves straight towards the black board and sees the
picture at an angle of elevation of 45o. Find the distance moved by the student.
(Or)
Two vertical lamp posts of equal heights stand on either side of a roadway 50 m wide
between lamp posts. The elevations of the tops of the lamp posts from a point between
the lamp posts are 60o and 30o. Find the height of each lamp post and the position of
this point.
8. Construct a tangent to a circle of radius 4 cm from a point which is at a distance of
6 cm from its centre.
9. In a study on patients, the following data were obtained. Find the arithmetic mean
using suitable method.

SECTION – C
11. Spherical shaped marbles each of diameter 1.4 cm are dropped into a cylindrical
beaker of diameter 7 cm containing some water. Find the number of marbles that
should be dropped into the beaker so that the water level rises by 5.6 cm.
12. Prove that opposite sides of a quadrilateral circumscribing a circle subtend
supplementary angles at the centre of the circle.
(Or)
A triangle ABC is drawn to circumscribe a circle of radius 4 cm such that the
segments BD and DC into which BC is divided by the point of contact D are of lengths
8 cm and 6 cm respectively . Find the sides AB and AC
13. There are trees at equal distance in a line with a well . A gardener waters all the trees
separately starting from the well and he returns to the well after watering each tree to
get water for the next .

(i) Find the A.P format of the distance covered by the gardener in watering trees
and also find the distance between the 𝟓𝒕𝒉 and 𝟏𝟎𝒕𝒉 trees.
(ii) How much distance the gardener needs to travel for watering 15th tree.

14. The angles of elevation and depression of the top and bottom of a lamp post from the
top of an apartment are 60o and 30o respectively.

(i) Find the distance between the lamp post and the apartment. (√𝟑 = 1.732)
(ii) Find the height of the lamp post.
