There is / There are

We use there is and there are to express the


existence of something in singular or plural. In
Spanish is the use of verb “haber”, for example:

There is a cat in the roof.


There are four cats in the roof.

Look at the following sentences positive, negative


and questions:

Do /Does
This verb is one of the most used verbs in English, that can be use in many
ways. Here you will find some rules on how to use it:

Rule 1:
Use as the verb “hacer” in Spanish. It is used according its conjugation.

You You do the homework.

He He does the homework.

She Does She does everything.

It It does the best it can.

We We do the trip by car.

You Do You do the school homework.

They They do the school clean.

Rule 2:
Use as an auxiliary verb to ask questions.
Formula: Do /Does + Pronoun + verb base form
Examples:
• Do you play chess?
• Does he speak French?
• Do they teach English?

Rule 3:
Use the twice or repeated in the same question, first used an auxiliary and
second as a verb.
Example:
• Do you do your homework every afternoon?
• Does she does the laundry every Friday?

Rule 4:
Use as a negative form in the simple present tense with verb in its base
form.
Formula: Pronoun + don’t/doesn’t + verb base form + complement

Example: She doesn’t eat fish.


You don’t drink coffee.

Possessive Pronouns
The possessive pronouns are used to avoid repeating information that is already
clear, in general is less confusing.

Example:
• This is my car, not your car. (it sounds repetitive)
• This car is mine, not yours.

Possessive Adjectives
A possessive adjective is an adjective that modifies a noun by identifying who
has the ownership or possession of it.
Example:
• She reads her book. (Shows possession of the book)
• The group play their songs. (Possession of the songs)
