Guy Fawkes Night takes place on the 5th of November every 1) __________
in the UK. In 1605, a man called Guy Fawkes and a group of people wanted

James I’s ideas. The King was going to be in the Houses of Parliament on the
5th of November so, on the night before, Guy Fawkes put gunpowder in the

to death. People were happy that the King was safe, so they lit big fires all

Ingredients
Toffee Apples
• 8 apples
• 400g caster sugar
• 1 teaspoon of vinegar
• 4 tablespoons of golden syrup

a Cook the water and sugar for five minutes, then add the
vinegar and syrup. The toffee is ready when you pour it into
water and it becomes hard.
b Dip each apple into the toffee. Then place on baking paper.
c Mix the sugar and water in a pan.
d Put the apples in a bowl. Cover them in boiling water.
e Put a lolly stick into each apple.
