ENGLISH AS A FASCINATING LANGUAGE

There is no doubt that English is an internationally recognized language that is widely used
by all countries. Since English is such a highly valuable language, it is a great language to
learn. Moreover, we have to learn English because the English medium of instruction is
necessary in order for us to be able to communicate with students in another country.

In my opinion English is a very crazy language, since learning English can be extremely
challenging. For example, I had to learn vocabulary for about 1 month for my English class.
Even though learning English is difficult, I think that it is definitely worth the time, even if it
is difficult. For me, I think all of the settings we had for this class were very enjoyable and
challenging.

ENGLISH IS CRAZY...

English has three classes of words that are quite unique and you need to know them.
Homonyms, homophones, and homographs are words that may have the same sound,
spelling, or meaning

 Homonyms

Light, bark, groom

 Homophones

They’re/there/their

Two/to/too

 Homographs

Wind, lead, read, tear

 Odd spellings

The letters “ough” can sound like “uff” as in tough, like “oh” as in though, or like “ot” as in
thought. They can also sound like “ow” as in bough or “off” as in cough.
 HOW TO LEARN ENGLISH

To help us learn English, there are some tips that we can use as a reference for learning
English.

1. Set a smart goal. Find a specific aspect of your language that you want to improve
upon.
2. Reading literature is crucial. From here, try reading poems, short stories and novels
3. Watching shows with subtitle. There might be an opportunity to learn some words.

memorizing them.
