PANAGBENGA February Baguio City The term “Panagbenga”
comes from a Kankanaey
term meaning “season of
blooming”.
This festival reflects the
history, traditions and
values of Baguio and the
Cordilleras.
DINAGYANG 4th Sunday IloIlo City The Dinagyang festival
of January history started in 1967 when
an Augustinian priest from
Cebu gave a replica image
of the Santo Niño as a
birthday gift to a fellow
Augustinian priest in Iloilo.
Since then, a novena mass
was held every Friday at the
San Jose Parish Church.
MASKARA 4th Sunday, Bacolod City To lift the spirits of the
october locals and bring back the
smiles on their faces,
the MassKara Festival was
created. The smiling masks
were a declaration of the
people of Bacolod City that
they will pull through and
survive the challenges and
tragedies that they are
facing.
MORIONES March or Marinduque Held on the island-

ATI-ATIHAN January Cebu Held in the town of Kalibo,
the Ati-Atihan is a two-
pronged celebration to firstly
honour the Santo Nino
(baby Jesus) and secondly
to commemorate a peace
pact between two warring
tribes back in 1210.
IBALONG August Legazpi City he epic
is celebrated through street
performances and floats
on Ibalong Festival in
Legazpi City, Bicol region
since 1992. This
is celebrated in Legazpi City
during the month of August.
The Ibalong festival features
the various characters from
the epic
while celebrating through
song and dance.
