The Domain of Learning

(Reflection Paper)

Throughout this course, I have learned several things that can help me go
through my studies and develop as a person. First, I learned that cognitive, emotional,
and psychomotor learning are the three categories of domain learning. Within each
subject area, there are different learning levels that progress in complexity from more
basic, surface-level learning to deeper, more in-depth study. The cognitive domain deals
with how we acquire, process, and use knowledge. It is the "thinking" domain. The
affective domain deals with our feelings, values, and emotions. It is the "Attitude"
domain. Lastly, the psychomotor domain deals with manual, and physical motor skills
and physical movement skills. It is the "skills" domain.

I realize that learning is a process. As a result of the different ways we take in

information, process it, link it, store it, and use it, the brain's architecture is perpetually
developing and evolving. I realize that in order for the pupils to cope with the
prescribed curriculum, the instructor must have a solid understanding of the three
learning domains.

From now on I will act as a teacher that will use the three categories in the
domain of learning not just for me to develop but for my peers and to prepare me for my
future students. Employing strategies that make the most sense to them can help
children learn to think critically. They help pupils by demonstrating several approaches
to learning new ideas and concepts.
