GEOMETRY IN EDUCATION MATHEMATHICS

Geometry is one of the branches of mathematics that can be visualized and contextualized
immediately, thus Duarte (2013) suggests that geometry is linked to reality and therefore there are
numerous tools that allow manipulating, abstracting, concepts and their properties. It should be
noted that his teaching-learning in Colombia in recent years was influenced by modern
mathematics, especially in the seventies.

The Ministry of National Education (MEN, 1998) establishes that intuition in the teaching-learning of
geometry in school education temporarily disappeared, due to the formalism and progress of
modern mathematics, which led to giving it little importance in school curricula. In this process,
intuition and visualization were affected, determinants aspects for the teaching of geometry.
