1. Define Earth and attach a photo.

Earth is the planet on which we live. People usually say Earth when they
are referring to the planet as part of the universe, and the Earth when
they are talking about the planet as the place where we live.

2. In relation with the definition of Earth, what is a GREAT CIRCLE & SMALL
CIRCLE?

Great Circle is a plane that passes through the center of the earth. (e.g.
Equator and all Meridians). The shortest distance between any two points
on the earth’s surface is attained along the arc of a Great Circle.
Small Circles are lines that do not pass through the center of the earth.

3. Give at least three (3) proofs that the earth is round.

Sunrise and sunset


The earth rotate from west to east. This means that places in the east
experiences sunlight before places in the west. If the earth were flat, all
place will see the sun at the same time and there will be no darkness.
The moon or lunar eclipse
During the eclipse of the moon that is when the earth comes between the
sun and the moon, the earth shadow on the moon shows a dark circle. If
the earth were flat, the earth shadow will boot be circular.

Ship visibility
If a ship still far away at sea, it is watched using a telescope, one will first
see the smoke and then the funnel which the smoke is coming out and
this clearly suggest that the sea has a curved outline since it is part of a
sphere. If the earth were flat, the whole ship and the smoke will be seen
at once.

4. Differentiate Latitude from Longitude. Create atleast three (3) key points
to easily distinguish a latitude from a longitude.
