JOB PLAN INSTRUCTION

It is not uncommon to exchange the generator with a “spare” set instead of completing this
planned maintenance routine onboard. Ensure when dispatching the generator for
1
overhaul/service that the vendor utilised is approved by the OEM of the generator. If this routine
is to be completed onboard it is to be performed by a GDI approved vendor.
2 Dismantle generator including rotor removal.
Clean generator windings using clean, dry and oil free compressed air with electrical solvent or
3
de-greaser and high pressure hot water wash dependent on severity of contamination.
4 Dry windings to acceptable resistance levels.

5 Remove bearings.
Measure shaft bearing surfaces, endbell bearing wells and housings for roundness and proper
6
size.
7 Install new replacement bearings and pack with grease.
