October is the month of recognizing Breast Cancer Awareness and celebrated under the slogan 'Giving

Hope. Lives Save.’ Men and women locally are encouraged to display support for survivors of breast cancer
and those fighting the disease by wearing pink ribbons or clothes. As stated by Dr. Felycette Gay Lapus,
President of the Philippine Society of Medical Oncology, breast cancer has the lowest survival rate among
15 Asian countries, exceeding lung cancer as the most prevalent type of cancer in the Philippines.

The known cancer-causing compounds are called carcinogens. It does not mean you are going to get cancer
if you come into touch with a carcinogen. It depends on what you have been exposed to, how much you
have been exposed, and, among other aspects, how often you have been exposed with. Increasing the risk
of developing particular cancer types is related with certain carcinogenic agents.
