The Role of Teachers, and School Heads in Developing Educational Learning

Session 1: Current issues in Educational Management at the Elementary and Secondary

Levels

General Objective: To develop a deeper understanding of current and emerging issues in

leadership and management as applied in educational institutions

Highly Proficient Teachers:

Compilation of common issues in localized experiences of leadership and management.

In this time of pandemic, some common issues encountered in localized experiences of

leadership and management are in terms of the following:

> Managing Effective Communications – What mechanisms do Heads use in communicating

with their subordinates? Sometimes, the mechanisms use wasn’t effective that causes

miscommunications among the head and staffs or personnel.

> Planning and Implementing School Budget – How much say do they have over the purchase

of equipment, supplies, and other resource materials? Budgets are not enough to cover the

needed materials of the school and for its operation.

> Maintaining Safe School Facilities – How they work to maintain a safe school facility? Due to

new normal it is difficult to adapt the day to day activity of all personnel with safety measures to

maintain safe school facilities and safety environment.

> Providing Adequate Student Supervision – What are some alternatives that schools have

developed to assist in maintaining adequate supervision? This is a big challenge to everyone

especially in this time of pandemic where everyone is amid difficulty that need to be address

by the heads and its staffs.


> Response to Intervention – Identify general education students who are having trouble in

both academic and behavioral areas and to provide them with focused interventions and

instructions to assist them in this time of pandemic.

> Working Effectively with Parents Group/ PTA – What actions can take to increase involvement

in the school’s program.

> Time – Management -

Session 2 Management and Leadership I: Shaping a Vision of Success for Students

General Objective: To develop and formulate a vision of student success through

measurable indices and matrices

Highly Proficient Teachers:

Presentation of current school VMG (based on DepEd) focusing on the area of student

success.

inclusive education, global citizenship, information literacy, and public accountability.

> This Vision clearly provides the rationale every step of the way of the schools grows

and evolves to best serve the students. And by outlining the objectives and values, school

visions motivate and unify everyone to be their best.

MISSION

San Vicente National High School shall be fully responsive to the specific needs and

requirements of its clientele through the commitment and active engagement of all school

stakeholders who serve with a shared mindset of excellence and continuous improvement.

> This Mission serves as the guide to produce a fully productive students towards

excellence to be successful on their chosen field or area.


Session 3: Management and Leadership II: Managing people, data, and processes to

foster school improvement

General Objective: To formulate strategies to employ the networked complementarities to

foster school improvement

Highly Proficient Teachers:

Identification of resource availability and sources

> MANPOWER – these are the abilities and capabilities of the superior and his subordinates to

handle the operation of one’s school.

> METHODS – strategies applied by the leaders to run the school, how and what tactics are to

be done for its improvement and for continuous upskilling and reskilling of its staff. Such as

giving trainings and technical assistance, examples assistance in technology issues, program

specific instructional support, hardware and software and technology integration. For trainings,

such as professional development, conferences and workshops.

> MATERIALS - materials such as evidence-based curriculum, culturally relevant materials,

software, and other accessible materials.

> MONEY – this is the funding of the school for allocating of budget for the needed materials to

purchase for the operation of the school, example is the MOOE.

> MACHINE – refers to the facilities and equipment needed in the school. Such as available

classrooms, computer lab, assistive technology equipment and the audio/video

General Objective: To write an outline for a 3-year strategic management plan employing

networked complementarities of school heads, supervisors, teachers and other heads
