What is Instructional Support?
• Scaffolding strategies applied inside and outside of the
classroom to optimize motivation, instruction, and student
learning within an academic environment.
• Is the access to resources that support the teaching and

government issued resources, access to educational
materials, human resources, examination guidance, and
standardized teaching methods.

What is the purpose of Support
Instructional Materials?
Instructional materials are essential tools in learning
every subject in the school curriculum. They allow the
students to interact with words, symbols and ideas in
ways that develop their abilities in reading, listening,
solving, viewing, speaking, writing, using media and
technology.
Instructional Supports from School Head:

2. Teaching Methods - a teaching method comprises the principles and

methods used by teachers to enable student learning. These strategies are
determined partly on subject matter to be taught and partly by the nature of the
learner.

3. Feedback from Classroom Observation - designed to determine a

learner's level of understanding and skill development to plan the next steps
towards achieving the learning intentions or goals.

4. Mentoring Teachers - Professional teacher mentoring builds school culture

by supporting educators professional growth and psychosocial development
across their career. Mostly reserved for beginning teachers, mentoring
relationships are commonly used to develop pre-service teachers and guide new
teacher induction.
Instructional Supports from School Head:
5. Training/Professional Development - Professional development is
defined as activities that develop an individual’s skills, knowledge,
expertise and other characteristics as a teacher.

6. Giving Teachers Role in Curriculum Development - Teachers

know the needs of all stakeholders of teacher education. Teachers
can understand the psychology of the learner. Teachers are aware about the
teaching methods and teaching strategies. Teachers also play the role as
evaluator for the assessment of learning outcomes. So teachers must
possess some qualities such as planner, designer, manager, evaluator,
researcher, decision maker and administrator. Teachers play the respective
role for the each step of curriculum development process.
Instructional Supports from School Head:
7. Professional Learning Community for Teachers – a professional
learning community (PLC) is a team of educators who share ideas to enhance
their teaching practice and create a learning environment where all students can
reach their fullest potential.
Benefits of Professional Learning Community:
 PLCs allow educators opportunities to directly improve teaching and
learning.
 PLCs build stronger relationships between team members.
 PLCs help teachers stay on top of new research and emerging technology
tools for the classroom.
 PLCs help teachers reflect on ideas.
How can an instructional effectiveness be
improved?
 Make your explanation clear
 Make eye contact and address the students by name
 Supplement lectures with hands-on activities
 Recognize students’ accomplishments and respond
appropriately to their concern
 Draw connections between the course material and its real-
world applications.
