The idea of this book is to encourage ethical,
political and pedagogical reflection within the
framework of environmental education. It intends
to deepen and contribute to be informative of the
proposals in environmental education which are
promoted from the diverse local and regional
scenarios of our territory. Thanks to all the
environmental catastrophes that have occurred
over the years caused by the bad information that
there is about the environment, how little people
care about it, this puts us in front of problems of
such complexity that are unprecedented in the
history of mankind.
All this configures a wide spectrum of different
material and symbolic orders that challenges us
as a contemporary society, that reveals the crisis
of the current development model, of the values
that we are sustaining as a society and of the
main device established in modernity to
legitimize it, environmental education becomes a
fundamental process oriented to the search for
alternative paths that make possible the
construction of a different, fair, participative and
diverse society. This book seeks to question the
meaning of environmental education processes
so that they become processes leading to social
change.
