The government of Merica is based within the region of Eelee, in the Hive of Richmonde. At
the tip of the Hive’s spire lies the Grand Council Chambers. Twenty One seats occupy this
room, where the representatives from each region, the High General, The Lord
Administrator, The Calbian representative and the Lord Commander himself meet to discuss
matters of state and war. Although not an Autocracy as such, only the Lord Commander has
the final word on all decisions.

Geography:

Merica is a varied nation geographically. The eastern flats are a rich and verdant land used
for agriculture and recreation. The central and western regions are a massive desert that
has existed for twenty millennia or so the legends go. The Northern regions are snowy and
utterly barren. The people of those areas are packed into sprawling Hives which dwarf the
mountains around them. The southern regions are more tropical but still fertile lands that
border Hy Brasil; Mericas greatest rival.

Early History:

According to Myth Merica has never fallen. They state that for countless centuries it
endured, through war, famine and even events of the early Age of Strife. It may be true
that the state had survived but its rulers are radically different. They are a collection of war
loving tyrants which would probably turn on each other had not the position of Lord
Commander not been filled with the strong willed men which it so far has. The common man
of Merica is a freedom loving and relatively peaceful, but will fight if his home is threatened.
It is this which the leader of Merica exploit for their wars. Such is the extremity of Mericas
propaganda that the common person would never know the truth behind anything they
were told or did.
The early years however were still just as savage as any other state on Terra. Merica may
have been stable but the nations around it were not. Calbia to the north was an
overpopulated and desolate realm, and its people hungered for the fertile and rich plains of
Merica. As such, not a century after Terra descended into Chaos the Calbians invaded. It is
said the entire population of Calbia marched into Merica; looting and pillaging and killing.
The Merican government reacted without mercy. While the Calbians struggled to overcome
the defences of Hives Argo and Portlan, ten billion armed Merican soldiers descended on the
Calbians and slaughtered them without mercy. Such was the sheer numbers of the Calbians,
that they were unable to retreat in any semblance of order, and as such were cut off and
nearly totally destroyed. Over 20 billion Calbians were slaughtered over the course of a
seven week retreat that followed. Such was the carnage that it was noticed by the Chaos
Gods themselves. A great rent in reality opened above Hive Argo and thousands of red hued
Daemons materialised amongst the Merican armies and a great slaughter followed. The
Daemons couldn’t win, but they cared not. Every Daemon that fell took a dozen Mericans
with them. After a few hours all the Daemons were destroyed and the warp rift sealed itself
up. Such was the carnage that it took Merica and Calbia nearly 500 years to recover.

The conquest of Calbia

The Calbians were forced into their frozen Hives after their failed invasion. Century after
century passed, its people living in squalor and misery. They had no real army and their
government cared little for the common man. As such when Merica launched its own
conquest of Calbia the people welcomed Merica with open arms. They were unprepared for
what was next. The Mericans split the country into eight regions each with a single Hive
City. The Mericans destroyed the other settlements and executed one man out of every ten.
Its people would be fed and supplied by Merica, but every family must send one of its sons
to become a soldier in the Merican army. So it has been ever since.
Wars with Brasil
Brasil always had a great rivalry with Merica. When both nations were formed the area
between them was largely unprotected and was full of small tribes with no real unity. Both
Merica and Brasil quickly assimilated these tribes, before they finally clashed at a place
known only as Uba. It is stated that at this battle the mountains themselves were shattered
by the arcane weapons of the Mericans. Brasil was forced out, but struck back with their
Atomic Weapons. Whole Merican armies were obliterated by these weapons. Even so Brasil’s
armies could not defeat the Mericans in open battle and so each side was forced into an
uneasy truce, where they established semi-permanent borders, which have not shifted for
over 1000 years.

The ravages of Ursh

Roughly 500 years before the rise of the Emperor, the nation of Ursh, probably the most
powerful nation on Terra launched an expedition into Calbia and Merica. It aim was to
capture the ancient archaeotech that had been unearthed in Hive Salem. The army which
invaded was beyond counting, but needless to say it dwarfed anything the Mericans could
muster. The Calbian Hives of Ankorr Dawn and Monton were each razed to the ground and
its people put to the sword. A Merican army faced the hordes of Ursh under the shadow of
the Volcano Helena. This army was defeated in a matter of hours, the warp spawned magiks
of the Ursh sorcerers caused the volcano to bury the Merican army in a raging firestorm.
The forces of Ursh ravaged the lands where they marched; whole communities were
destroyed and their wealth stolen. Three more armies faced the forces of Ursh, but each
was slaughtered in turn. Finally at the gates of Salem a billion soldiers stood ready to fight
and if necessary die for their homes. When the hordes of Ursh attacked they were at first
repulsed. The strong defences of the Hive held their own and even the sorcerers of Ursh
could not bring down the walls. However at the rear of the army of Ursh the legendary Red
Engines; massive cannons capable of reducing even Hive Cities to rubble. Seeing their doom
the commander of the Merican army deciden upon a final attack. The purpose of which was
to destroy the Red Engines and maybe save the city. At dawn on the third day of the siege,
half a billion soldiers charged from their defences and the city into the heart of the forces of
Ursh. However this attack made little impact, and it seemed the army would be annihilated.
However from the darkness of that final hour a light was seen in the gloom. Suddenly ten
thousand golden warriors emerged out of nowhere and struck at the heart of the army of
Ursh. None could stand before them and their leader destroyed whole regiments with might
psychic energy. Soon one by one the Red Engines were destroyed, their wreckage cast into
great chasms rent open by psychic force. The sheer panic of their loss saw the Ursh armies
rout from the field. Even as they ran the golden warriors cut down thousands. Their leader
managing to obliterate the Ursh warlord who had led the invasion. Merica had been saved,
and Ursh never again invaded Merica. Occasional border skirmishes broke out but the
leaders of Ursh were fearful of a defeat of that scale again. In gratitude the leader of the
golden warriors was offered a place in Mericas government. He refused to join himself, but
instead appointed one of his warriors. The man known as Valdor would become Mericas new
High General.

The Fall of Merica

After the defeat of Ursh’s invasion, Merica prospered into a rich and populous nation. The
army reached the zenith of its power with Valdor at its head. They crushed the mutant
hordes from the northern wastes, and captured nearly half of the island of Atlantys from the
Nordafrik Conclaves.
When word came of the great battles being fought by the armies of Unity few in Merica
believed they could ever be conquered. Their current Lord Commander Amerigo Vespar had
total faith in his armies and the devotion of his people. However he did not know the folly of
this belief. When the Thunder Warriors of Unity landed in the east Amerigo found he had no
control. All across Merica the warriors of his army were defecting and joining the forces of
Unity. He pleaded with Valdor for action, but Valdor instead arrested the Lord Commander
and imprisoned him in the Council Chambers. After a month of incarceration Amerigo found
that his nation had been totally conquered. No battles were fought and in fact his armies
were now fighting under Unity colours against Hy Brasil. Amerigo called Valdor a coward
and challenged him for rulership of Merica. It was now that the newly emerged Emperor
spoke to Amerigo about his vision and dream for a Unified mankind. Amerigo refused and
told him he would prefer death to servitude. As with that he attempted to strike the
Emperor, however his body was incinerated before he could even lift his arm. And with that
one of the most powerful nation on Terra had been conquered without a fight. However
Calbia was not so lucky. Its hives attempted to rebel and throw off the shackles of Merican
domination, and the Emperor deemed this region useless and so subjected it to an intense
Atomic bombardment, eradicating all life in each hive.

Nova Yourk:

The capital of Merica is one of the greatest cities on Terra. The city itself is nearly 20,000
square miles in size and rises nearly 12,000 feet above the flat plains that surround it. Its
exact population is nearly impossible to determine, and nobody has ever tried. The Hive
itself is build around an ancient ruined statue of a woman, which the cities architects
believed was a massive religious shrine. The city the center for Mericas military, and the
great plains outside the city is where they assemble.
Sinus:

This region encompasses the area that was once the fables ‘Gulf of Mexios’. This land is a
lush jungle and its primary hive Yucatan is built within a great depression in the landscape.

Oregorn:

The Kota region is the site of the great victory over Ursh. The land is mostly a desert, but
with a small strip of grassland around the Hive Salem itself. Using ancient genetic
techniques these fields can grow enough food to feed the entire hive each and every day.

Florda:

The region of Florda is said the be the paradise of Merica. Its temperate climate and lush
wildlife make it one of the few unspoilt regions on Terra. The Hive Orlanda stands to the
west of the region and was built there in order to preserve the natural landscape.

Nova Atlanta:

This region is the newest edition to the Merican State. The island of Atlantys was left with a
small garrison after Ursh invaded the Nordafrik Conclaves, and as such Merica, Hy Brasil
and the Europa Alliance captured much of the Island. The hive of Critias is a marvel on
engineering. It was built over the course of three decades using STC technology found in
Nevadorr.

Nevadorr:
The Hive of Vegas in Nevadorr is said to be one of the most crime ridden cities on Terra.
Murder and theft is common, and the military police can do little to stop it. This is however
mostly overlooked as men from that hive make fine soldiers. The Vegas Legion are among
the most skilled warriors in Merica. Another important area in the region is the Merican
military camp of Groom Lake. At the center of this camp is a massive underground vault
which is rumoured to contain vast libraries of STC technology. It is true that many times
have the Mechanicum attempted to sieze these secrets, but every time they have failed.
Merica itself does not possess the knowledge to use the STC’s but even so they jealously
guard these secrets.

Calbia:

The Protectorate of Calbia is allowed semi-autonomous control over its population. The
conditions of their treaty with Merica state that in all military and diplomatic matters Merica
has total control. However their leaders still had the power to police and control their
people. The land itself has little of value, but its people make reliable soldiers who are
resilient to the elements. Even so these people resent Merica for the level of control
imposed on them and as such would not aid them during the Unification Wars.
The Military of Merica:

Each region governor must raise men for the grand army of Merica. They do not have to
equip them, as the great foundries of Nova Yourk and Laurentia are fully capable of doing
so.

Equipment:

Every Soldier of the Merican army is given a suit of Powered armour, and a heavy halberd.
The warriors of Merica are highly disciplined and use their training and not numbers to
defeat most foes. Their halberds are designed to smash powered armour, and as such gives
the men of Merica an advantage over lighly armoured foes. They make little use of firearms,
and each region is only required to raise a single regiment of warriors with training in the
use of firearms. These men are usually formed into weapon companies and are given large
automatic cannons and are given the task of providing the other troops fire support during
battle. They have no access to armoured vehicles or aircraft, as they do not possess the
means to build or operate such machines.

Vegas Legion:

These fearless soldiers are highly skilled warriors and have earned this reputation in every
bloody war Merica has been in. During the war with Ursh, they were the only regiment not
to falter in the final hours of the battle. At its conclusion the Vegas Legion was given the
honour of becoming the personal guard of Valdor and they were the ones who arrested
Amerigo during the fall of Merica. Many of its members would go on to become Astartes
themselves when the Great Crusade began.

Famous Generals:

Hiram Grant:

Grant was the general who lead the army at the Siege of Salem. His defences repulsed the
forces of Ursh on the first and second day of the battle. On the third day he lead the attack
on the Red Engines. Moments after stepping over the barricades he was shot down by an
Ursh sniper, but his men continued the attack nonetheless, and their fury was such that it
held the advance of the armies of Ursh long enough for the Golden Warriors to turn the tide.
