1. Is the goal of maximization of shareholder wealth necessarily ethical or unethical?
We believe that the goal of maximization of shareholder wealth is an ethical goal
in a capitalistic society, however, the pursuit of maximization of shareholder wealth must
be done with social responsibility. If the company does not pursue the maximization of
shareholder wealth with social responsibility in mind, the company will not be
sustainable over a long term period. This is because the act of seeking to maximize
shareholder wealth without the understanding and consideration of the company's social
responsibility is no more than “profit maximization" which every business expert knows
is only a short term goal at best and cannot prove to be sustainable without socially
responsible means. In addition, ethics in the line of commerce and business engaging
people must abide to the principles of fairness, accountability and transparency.
Ethics must be practiced to be a cultural set in order for personal interest to
stopped and promote a healthy corporate environment. The business should uphold to a
considerable competition. Everything can be attained through honesty, perseverance and
hard work. We don't lose our sense of being a human. I believe that the goal of
maximization of shareholder wealth is an ethical goal in a capitalistic society, however,
the pursuit of maximization of shareholder wealth must be done with social
responsibility.
2. What responsibility, if any does Google have to protect the privacy of those who interact
with other people wearing glass?
Google glass a product that created hype in the customer and many people were
crazy in buying the product. Google has a responsibility to ensure the protection and the
privacy of its products and users to those people who uses Google glass in interaction.
This product threatens the ability of individuals to have private, candid, or anonymous
social interactions. And cyber security is one of the most serious threats, both to private
users and business enterprises, at present, Google Glass makes it easy for cyber hackers
to gain access to our personal data, banking and credit card details, passwords or personal
identification numbers and due to this perceived risk many people seriously disapprove
this product. However, Google glass is a very advanced technological device that has
many advantages one of this is it able to capture or record every moment, it also
identifies the persons in your vision, connected with internet just like the smart phone and
all other advance features without problem.
Although, Google glass is a fail, there must be a revision on the product where
those who are dealing with the users must feel the safety and protection as they have the
right to it. As for years, the product has not reinstated to the market, there is still a greater
chance that entrepreneurs would still pursue as it hypes up the consumers just that several
features did languish. It is a known device already but every reconsideration must be
rigidly subject to judgement since it goes to the pursuit of good life but preposterous to
individuals who does have or doesn't have it.
