SUPPORT UNITS OF THE UNIVERSITY

REGISTRAR’S OFFICE

The Registrar's Office is located at the first floor of the Administration Building. It is where the
students’ academic records and other pertinent documents which pertain to the approved
curriculum are kept.

Services Offered at the Registrar's Office

The following services are rendered to the students:

1. Processing of enrollment
2. Processing of Transcript of Records
3. Processing of request and issuance of Transfer Credentials, Diploma, S.O., and other
certifications;
4. Processing of exceptional cases related to enrollment or subjects and overload, cross-
enrollment, and others;
5. Correction of names
6. Special evaluation (i.e., evaluation before or after the prescribed schedule);
7. Authentication of photocopies of student records;
8. Processing and approval of application for graduation;
9. Processing of foreign students’ data;
10. Issuance of rating cards and students’ grades to authorized persons;
11. Issuance of original copies and re-issuance of diplomas; and
12. Certification or verification of scholastic records;

TREASURER’S OFFICE

The Office is responsible for the collection of student fees that include tuition fees and other
miscellaneous fees for the requisition of documents and other records.

The said office has four (4) school tellers, one of these tellers is designated for Person’s with Disability
(PWD), Senior Citizen, Pregnant Women and Parents. During examination and enrolment period, the
tellers will be open at 8:00 a.m. with no noon break and ends at 5:00 p.m.

LIBRARY

The UB Library System provides an efficient and responsive service of dispensing resources to the
university community: faculty, students, staff and the public.

Vision Statement
The UB Library System envisions in developing students who will become responsible service-
oriented leaders anchored on the trinity of virtues, ably discharging its functions as an information
broker and custodian of the university learning resources.

Mission Statement
The Library System provides the UB community with facilities and resources that reflect the attributes
of life-long learning, character, and service-orientation of the institution

a. Maintain the balance and variety of the library collection to support the university
curriculum, by continually assessing and enhancing its capabilities.

JSTOR provides access to more than 12 million academic journal articles, books, and primary sources
in 75 disciplines.

HERDIN database provides quick and easy access to more than 50,000 citation and bibliographic
information from both published (Philippine health research journals, convention/conference
proceedings, international databases and publications) and unpublished (research institutions
research reports and projects, theses and dissertations) health research in the country.

Online Subscriptions

ProQuest is committed to empowering librarians and researches the world over. The company's
portfolio of assets -- including content, technologies and deep expertise -- provides for better
research outcomes for users and greater efficiency for the libraries and organizations that serve
them.

Philippine E-Journals is an expanding collection of academic journals that are globally accessible
through a single Web-based platform. It is hosted by C&E Publishing, Inc., a premier educational
publisher in the Philippines and a leader in the distribution of integrated information-based solutions.

STUDENT/ PERSONNEL SERVICES

Student Personnel Services Office is composed of the Guidance Center, Health Services (Clinic) and
Student Affairs Office. It is primarily concerned in providing services that would help students
develop holistically. SPS is located at the ground floor of the IRC building.

The Guidance Center develops and implements organized program of services designed to support
and guide the students in making adjustments to educational, vocational, social, personal, and
emotional problems. Likewise, it assists and guides them in making wise decisions and planning in
solving problems and in improving the quality of their relationships and social life.

Guidance Services

▪ Orientation

Assists students adjust to the school environment and gain a feeling of security and belongingness
through orientation program.

▪ Individual Inventory

An organized record of each student is maintained to provide the counselor sufficient insight
regarding the problems of students and for the student to gain self-knowledge and self-realization.

▪ Testing

Standardized tests are administered to help students develop awareness and understanding of their
general mental ability, aptitude, study habits, interest, personality traits and achievements.

▪ Counseling

Counseling is the core of the guidance services. The services provided will help the
students/personnel in identifying and understanding their difficulties. It also aims to develop the
student/personnel unique entity.

▪ Career Guidance

Provide students’ assistance in choosing their career and vocation in life.

▪ Information.

Provide for the collection, maintenance, and dissemination of current educational, occupational, and
personal social information for use by students, parents, teachers and administrators. This service

STUDENT AFFAIRS OFFICE

The University recognizes that there are valuable venues for learning outside the walls of the
classroom that gives students a meaningful college experience. The Student Affairs Office (SAO)
directs the non-academic aspect of student life and coordinates with the school community in
matters affecting these aspects.

Specific Objectives:

1. To initiate and coordinate specific programs and services for the students’ personal and
social growth aimed to promote holistic and well-rounded student development;

2. To provide opportunities for the students’ active involvement in school activities and socio-
civic programs.

3. To promote the mode of conduct necessary for the school community ensuring that a
responsible behavior is infused in the hearts and minds of students leading to an acceptance
and positive response to the school’s objectives.

HEALTH SERVICES

The Medical and Dental Clinic provides health services to all employees and students at the
university. It is located at the ground floor of the Achievers Hall.

Guidelines for Medical and Dental Services:

Medical Clinic

1. Students/personnel who wish to avail themselves of the school clinic services are required
to present their validated ID card.
2. Free consultation is available for all bona-fide students/personnel of the University. If
deemed necessary, cases are referred to a medical specialist for further work-up and
management, to the account of the student/personnel.
3. Initial dosage of medicine is given to students/personnel after consultation.
4. Prescribed injections may be administered in the clinic provided that no skin testing is
needed.

5. Free dressing for minor wounds is done in the clinic. Major wounds that require suturing are
referred to the hospitals.
6. Emergency cases are referred to hospitals after first aid management.
7. Medical certificates will only be issued to students/personnel who are actually examined by
the school physician, fees may apply.
8. Medical kits and medicines may be provided for in campus and outside school activities
upon presentation of a written request endorsed by the Head of Student Affairs Office
9. Annual physical examination is given to students/personnel of the University.

CAMPUS STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS


The University recognizes the formation of student organizations such as the Student Government
and Campus Student Organizations as a way of developing and improving the students’ potentials,
leadership skills and social responsibility as well as to help the University in carrying out its
programs for student welfare. They may be co-curricular and/or academic in nature or extra-
curricular and non-academic.

All Student organizations are directly under the charge, regulation and supervision of the Student
Affairs Office.

• Student Government

All students are encouraged to take part in student government by involving in government
elections and by supporting the various projects of the elected officers. Students will have the
opportunity to govern themselves as a student body and to be accountable to their constituents.

The UB Supreme Student Government (UBSSG) is a duly constituted body to represent the UB
student body. It is democratic, popularly elected and autonomous in accordance with the
provisions of its constitutions and by-laws. Its primary objective is to protect the rights and
promote the general welfare of the students. It coordinates with the school administration and the

Head of the Student Affairs Office, being their adviser, in all matters affecting the students’ interest
and helps the University in carrying out its mission statement to the student.

The Student Affairs Office is the official adviser of the University of Bohol Supreme Student
Government.

• Campus Student Organizations

Joining campus organizations gives each student the opportunity to learn things that cannot be
taught in the classrooms. As a venue for a more holistic personal formation and growth, it also
provides the students to meet and work with different kinds of people, apply things learned in the
classroom, and gain friends.

Students may freely form or join student organizations provided that they are accredited and
recognized by the University through the Student Affairs Office. All chairmen of the organizations
will comprise the CSO Executive Committee (CSO EXECOM) which serves as the coordinating body
of the student organizations and supervises the implementation of every activity taken part by the
various organizations.

In University of Bohol, student organizations are categorized into the following according to their areas of

• Student Publications

A student publication is any newspaper, newsletter, leaflets, magazines, handout, periodical or


other publication whether printed, mimeographed or photocopied, published by students for
campus circulation or in case of public consumption, bears the seal/name of UB.

The Varsitarian is the official student publication of the collegiate level of the University of Bohol. It
aims to provide the students with the proper forum for:
a. Disseminating information on the curricular and co-curricular activities and interest of the
student population.

b. Training students for campus writing in line with academic freedom, improving the
journalistic skills of students concerned and promoting responsible journalism.

c. Linking the school with the vital issues of the community and the world in general.

d. Inculcating a deep sense of involvement with the tenets of journalism and effective
communication.

e. Unifying all members of the school and its community towards desirable educational and
cultural development objectives through the use of journalism as a channel.

f. Promoting the development and growth of campus journalism as a means of strengthening


ethical values, encouraging critical and creative thinking, and developing moral character
and personal discipline of the Filipino youth (RA 7079).

g. As provided for in the Campus Journalism Law, the Varsitarian is supervised by the Editorial
Board. The Adviser is recommended by the Editorial Board but appointed by the
Administration.
