1.Study about R.A 9163?

National Services Training Program is a program aimed at

strengthening civic consciousness and defense preparedness while they are
still young. As far as I know NSTP is enacted in 2001 through the Republic Act
of 9163 that is signed with Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. It is established to teach
and train all the students, the youths rather to serve our society.

2.Identify the importance of R.A 9163?

The importance of R.A 9163 is to recognize the Youth's vital role in
nation- building by serving our country, promote consciousness among youth
and develop their physical, moral, spiritual, intellectual, and social well-
being. The reason why we are studying NSTP because it is requirements of
CHED (Commission on Higher Education) even though it is not part in our
major subject. The CHED will not provide a program that will not benefit the
students. Of course, there’s a lot of significance because it helps to widened,
improve, and develop our knowledge, wisdom, and experience that we can
use in the near future. NSTP is very useful because the students will teach
and train how to be more responsible and discipline. Also, it influences
students’ self-confidence, performance, skills, and abilities that can help
them to be a successful person in the future.

3.Identify the three (3) components of NSTP?Explain your

understanding in each component.
The three (3) components of NSTP are the ROTC (Reserve Officers' Training
Corps), LTS (Literacy Training Service) and the CWTS (Civic Welfare Training
Service). The ROTC is a program aimed at preparing young people for
military service and for them to be part of the Reserve Force of the Armed
Forces of the Philippines (AFP). This reserve force is expected to meet the
needs of the army in case of war or disaster. Prior to the enactment of the
NSTP Law of 2001, ROTC was mandatory in colleges and had no civilian
welfare and literacy component such as a program is an abuse and
corruption. Hazing or the use of violence to “test the courage, resilience and
loyalty” of a cadet has become the norm in
ROTC. In fact, this hazing and corruption is the main reason why the NSTP
Law of 2001 was enacted, and ROTC was made optional in schools while the
LTS is a program of NSTP that focuses on training students to become
teachers of reading-writing literacy and numeracy to children. Education is
focus on this component because it helps to improve and develop the

 knowledge, wisdom and skills of a student. It helps them also to know and
realize the reading and writing to develop one's thinking and learning for the
purpose of understanding oneself and the world. Last is the CWTS, it designs
activities that will contribute to the general welfare and betterment of life
from the community. CWTS is a program that helps everyone to learn in
everything because in CWTS you learned to talk to different people, learned
to help those in need and also helps us to be aware of what is happening in
our town.

4.Who are covered by the NSTP law?

The covered od the NSTP law is both male and female college students
of any baccalaureate degree course or technical vocational course in public
or private educational institutions, State Universities and Colleges (SUCs),
Philippine Military Academy (PMA), Philippine Merchant Marine Academy
(PMMA) and last but not the least is the Philippine National Police Academy
(PNPA).

5.If you have the chance/opportunity to choose among components

of NSTP, what will you choose and why?
If I have a chance/opportunity to choose among components of NSTP, I
choose the LTS because it promotes the values education, spirit of
patriotism, and sustainable social mobilization for youth development. It
helps me to have an understanding about strategies, techniques, and
methods of teaching such as the idea of nationalism, learning in different
languages, how to communicate with others and understanding the
numerical figure. Helping someone to read and write effectively or acquire
the basic math skills it will helps to improves the future of everyone in
society. So as a result, it will have a big contribution to our economic
development as well as individual and community well-being.
