What is the meaning of Perennialism Philosophy ?

Perennialism is a teacher-centered educational philosophy that focuses


on everlasting ideas and universal truths. To clarify, Perennialism suggests
that the focus of education should be the ideas that have lasted for centuries
believing the ideas are as relevant and meaningful today as when they were
written.

What does Perennialism mean in education?

Perennialists believe that the focus of education should be the ideas


that have lasted over centuries. They believe the ideas are as relevant and
meaningful today as when they were written. They recommend that students
learn from reading and analyzing the works by history's finest thinkers and
writers.

What is the purpose of Perennialism?

The goal of a perennialist education is to teach students to think


rationally and develop minds that can think critically. A perennialist
classroom aims to be a closely organized and well-disciplined environment,
which develops in students a lifelong quest for the truth. For example,
reading, writing, speaking, and listening are emphasized in the early grades to
prepare students in later grades to study literature, history, and philosophy.

What are the characteristics of Perennialism?

Common characteristics of a perennialist curriculum is a subject


centered lessons, organized body of knowledge, and a focuses on
developing the thinking skills of students. Lecture, question, and answer are
common instructional methods.

Perennialists believe that the focus of education should be the ideas


that have lasted over centuries. Based on my experienced, the teachers in our
school specially the k-3 teachers are way more focused on the reading and
writing skills of the pupils while the 4-6 teachers emphasized more the critical
thinking skills and reading comprehension of the learners to develop Also the
reasoning skills. moreover, inside the classroom you can find different posters
from different subject areas which are very essential for students' masteries
on different contents
Based on my experiences is that we should remind the students to
always read. I also encourage student’s public speak so that they will get
used to it. I also remind them to listen to their teachers when having class.
