Exploratory Data Analysis

School Management System – Business Problem and Objectives

Persistent student attendance problem in the schools is a known fact for many years. Irregular
attendance will lead to Chronic Absence. Chronic Absence will lead to drop out before graduation.
One of the key challenges is the lack of attendance performance monitoring throughout the school
year. Without continuous monitoring, there will be no visibility to attendance trends.

Exploratory data analysis is the first and most important phase in any data analysis. EDA is
a method or philosophy that aims to uncover the most important and frequently overlooked
patterns in a data set.

This exploratory data analysis (EDA) document aims at:

• Compile attendance data accurately and quickly
• Transform raw data into intuitive and actionable insights

By unpacking attendance data and organize them by actionable dimensions such as Grade and
Gender, etc. This will help identify root cause of attendance improvement and decline.
