The effects of overeating

Food plays an essential role in human life since it provides nutrients for
bodily growth and ensures that the body functions and works efficiently
throughout the day. However, consuming a big amount of food and failing to
recognize the changes in our bodies can have negative consequenses in terms
of both physically and emotionally.
First of all, the habit of eating in excess can bring hazards to physical
problems. The food that is eaten surplus makes the body fatty and bad in
shape. The outlook is distorted by eating without thinking. The body gains
more weight when it consumes more food than it requires, and this is often
linked to obesity. Furthermore, overeating, particularly high-fat, high-calorie
meals, might raise the risk of developing health problems. Few health
problems are observed in obese people, but they may develop conditions that
cause problems later in life, such as high blood pressure. They may also
suffer from 'sleep apnoea’. When this happens, soft tissue in the throat blocks
the airways during sleep. This can stop their breathing for up to a minute.
This process can happen hundreds of times a night, leading to heart disease,
memory problems, headaches, and tiredness.
Aside from the physiological drawbacks, overeating can also have
psychological consequences. As society has progressed, the public perception
of overweight and obesity has changed . For example, traditionally, people
with big bodies who can currently be categorized obese were valued and
viewed as well up. However, this has changed with the changing media
perception of ideal body weight. This means that overweight and overeating
are being viewed negatively in the society. That causes individuals have low
self-esteem and self- confidence, and as a result, they get depressed. Because
gaining too much weight makes a person antisocial; he or she refuses to do
anything and isolates themselves from the public. They think themselves as
ugly, unnecessary and unchangeable in terms of losing weight. Or they don’t
believe in being able to lose weight again.
In conclusion, overeating may have detrimental physical impacts as well as
long-term effects such as mental health on individuals and societies. Besides,
We may also establish projects to assist increase people’s awareness about the
serious consequences of overeating in order to reduce them by using the most
accessible information dissemination media, mainly through the internet to
reach as many people as possible.
