Answer the question below in essay form. 1. What is Christology? and why is the study of
Christology important? Explain your answer. (15 pts)

Christology is widely accepted as a branch of theology in which the studies focused

around Jesus Christ. What is his divinity, what is his humanity, his incarnation and resurrection.
That definition can be found all around books and the internet. But my interpretation on the
definition of Christology is how did Jesus live his life, how his teachings influence billions of
people, how did one man’s teachings help create a religion that lasted 2000 years that still
continues up today.

Studying Christology can serve as a guide on how the past worshipped and valued Jesus.
It shows how Christianity is was built 2000 years ago, how many changes it faced and it’s
controversies. It gives an insight how different scholars interpreted his works, his life, and his
divinity and humanity. This is my formal definition on why is it important to study Christology.
For me studying Christology gives us Christians a chance to have a deeper understanding and
knowledge about the life of Jesus. Being a Christian is not just about worshipping and serving
Jesus but to also understand his existence. You may be confused, “how can we understand God?
How can we understand Jesus?”, that is the purpose of Christology, sure it’s difficult to truly
understand a being that created the universe, who is both beginning and the end, but to us
humans Christology can serve somewhat as a brochure to understand a being that divine ad
human at the same time
