DESCRIPTION: Thesis Statements are often confused with “attention grabbers.”
Attention grabbers capture the readers’ attention and draw them into the essay. While
the thesis sets the focus for the essay. The thesis IS the essay.
DIRECTIONS: Read the following thesis statements and determine if the thesis is weak
or strong. Write S if it is strong and W if it is weak. Revise each weak one in the space
provided below. If it is an S, put N/A in the space below.
