TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION

INTO INSTRUCTIONAL PROCESS

TOPIC 3
TYPES OF TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION

1. Online and Blended classrooms

2. Blended learning or blended classroom.

3. Project-based learning

4. Game-based learning

5. Learning with mobiles and handheld devices

6. Interactive whiteboards and student response system

7. Podcasts, videos or slideshows

8. Collaborative online tools like wikis or Google docs

9. Using social media to engage students
CLASSIFICATION OF INSTRUCTIONAL
MEDIA

1. Print Media. They are paper

publications circulated in the forms of
books, journals, magazines,
newspapers, workbook and
textbooks among others.
2. Non-print Media. They come in two
forms:

a. Projected media

- require light source for projection

b. Non-projected media

- do not require light source, they include

3-dimensional objects. 2-dimensional objects,
prints, charts, model etc.
4. Hardware and Software.

1. Hardware - a machine or
equipment used in the instructional
process. It is upon these gadgets that
the software is projected.

2. Software - consists all materials

used with the machine because they
are the real carriers of information
3. Electronic media. These include:

1. Audio media: e.g., audio tape, cassettes and records

2. Visual media: e.g., calculator, computer, electronic board

and white board

3. Audiovisual: e.g., television, videotape and cine films

REVIEW & OVERVIEW OF DISTANCE
LEARNING DELIVERY MODALITIES
TOPIC 4

h
1. MODULAR DISTANCE LEARNING (MDL)

• Involves individualized instruction that

allows learners to use self-learning
modules (SLMs) in print or digital
format/electronic copy, whichever is
applicable in the context of the learner,
and other learning resources like
Learner’s Materials, textbooks, activity
sheets, study guides and other study
materials.
SUGGESTED PLATFORMS

• The use of Learning Resource Materials/Modules in

multimedia (slides, video and audio files)

• Digital Packets (Learning Materials)

• The use e-learning materials

• The use of computer-based learning resources

2. ONLINE DISTANCE LEARNING

• It features the teacher as facilitator, engaging learners’

active participation through the use of various
technologies accessed through the internet while they are
geographically remote from each other during instruction.

• The internet is used to facilitate learner-teacher and

peer-to-peer communication.
SYNCHRONOUS SESSION
• An online chat real time session.

• Course participants meet in a virtual classroom and discuss a topic

in the lesson.

ASYNCHRONOUS SESSION
• This is when questions and tasks are posted and course participants
answer the question or post their outputs at any time most convenient
to them
SUGGESTED PLATFORMS

• The use of Web-Enhanced Learning Activities

• Free access to OERs (Open Educational Resources)

• Access to LR Portals

• Access to DepEd Commons

3. TV/RADIO-BASED INSTRUCTION

• TV/Radio-Based Instruction utilizes SLMs converted to

video lessons for Television-Based Instruction and SLMs
converted to radio script for RadioBased Instruction.
4. BLENDED DISTANCE LEARNING
• This refers to a learning delivery that combines
face-to-face with any or a mix of online distance learning,
modular distance learning, and TV/Radio-based
Instruction.

• Blended learning will enable the schools to limit

face-to-face learning, ensure social distancing, and
decrease the volume of people outside the home at any
given time.
SUGGESTED PLATFORMS
The use of print/non-print learning materials such as but not
limited to the following:

• Modules

• Worksheets

• Activity Sheets

• The use of gadgets for K to 3 SpEd learners

5. HOMESCHOOLING

• This is an Alternative Delivery Mode (ADM) that aims to

provide learners with access to quality basic education
through a home-based environment to be facilitated by
qualified parents, guardians or tutors who have
undergone relevant training.
SUGGESTED PLATFORMS

The use of print/non-print learning materials such as but not

limited to the following:

• The use of the print materials/learning resources (

modules, worksheets, activity sheets, etc.)

• The use of digital packets (learning materials)
