Argumentative Essay

With the advancement of the era, people are starting to change their
mindset, many people debate about whether moral studies are redundant in the
Malaysian education. Many argue that moral studies is unnecessary in the
Malaysian education syllabus as it is a waste of time.

In my opinion, I think that moral studies is unnecessary because our

parents already teach about things that are morally right. For example, when we
were young we will sometimes see people throwing rubbish into the river and
our tell us about the consequences and now when we are older our teacher
repeat the same things and wasting our time.
In the current syllabus, students are required to memorize the moral
keywords and definitions. Students are already very busy and we still need to
spend at least an hour learning a subject that we already know a lot about. If we
don’t have moral class we can use that time to learn subjects such as math which
take a lot of time to learn or use that time to do a science experiment.
Lastly, the reason why I think that moral studies is unnecessary is because
most of the people in our society who doesn’t have moral are those that were
raise in a bad environment and those that have moral are those who were raise
in a good environment. For example, most people who do drugs or those who
murder people are because they are surrounded by people who do those things
such as their parents or friends.

In conclusion, instead of having moral studies, I think that the government

can replace the subject with a class on environmental protection, human right
issues, social skills for teenagers and ways to help the needy. Being morally good
should be more than just memorizing definitions in school.
