CALL FOR PAPERS
We invite papers from M.Phil. and Ph.D. Scholars from
Humanities and Social Sciences. GRM encourages students to
submit research articles in line with the theme :
Humanities and Social Sciences in Transition:
Perspectives, Exchanges, and Translations
Moving forward from the crisis posed by the pandemic, the
need for Humanities and Social Sciences to focus on transitions
in the human world is entailing as never before. These
transitions depend not only upon tangible and intangible
exchanges but also on translations--the multiple acts of
crossing boundaries, mediums, and meanings. The active
intervention of HSS scholarship is needed to comprehend their
associated connotations and perspectives. However, the
complexities of these transitions, sometimes natural and
sometimes deliberately undertaken, often fail to capture our
attention.
This conference aims to focus on the exchanges and
translations that make possible a better understanding of
Humanities and Social Sciences in transition. It will also
explore the different meanings of 'transitions,' 'exchanges,' and
'translations.' The conference thus has a two-fold intention.
While it gives space for scholars of HSS to examine the concept
of transition, these explorations will help us comprehend the
transition of HSS itself.

ABOUT GRM
The Graduate Research Meet is an annual research conference
conducted by the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences
(HSS) of the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati.
GRM is one of the largest student-organized academic conferences
in the country. This conference brings together research scholars
from various disciplines in Humanities and Social Sciences for a
meaningful discourse on human society and its environment based
on a selected theme. Through the 8th edition of the GRM, we aim to
explore new ideas and methodologies in the domain of Humanities
and Social Sciences research in a phase of transition.
ABOUT DEPARTMENT
The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences is a centre for
research and teaching composed of academics from eleven
disciplines: Archaeology, Development Studies, Economics, English,
Geography, History, Linguistics, Philosophy, Political Science,
Psychology and Sociology. With its varied range of research
interests and expertise, the department promotes interdisciplinary
work in the field of Humanities and Social Sciences.
The department offers taught courses to students of B.Tech and has
post-graduate programs in Development Studies and Liberal Arts.
Apart from these, the department also collaborates with related
national and international institutions in projects and workshops.
Abstracts can be submitted under any subcategories of
Humanities and Social Sciences, keeping in mind the broader
theme of “Humanities and Social Sciences in Transition:
Perspectives, Exchanges, and Translations”. Some sample
