1. System Basic Configuration – (2) Device Descriptions (1/2)
[EMS]
- Configures system settings/creates the design data of a project.
Reflect the system settings by "downloading" each type of data that was created/set, to the
MPS and OPS.
- Parameter tuning of logic elements can be performed on OPS. The data within EMS can be
updated with changes made in OPS by uploading the data from OPS to EMS.
[ACS]
- Saves the trend data and each type of log data for making reports.
- Start the operation with ACS-A as the control system and ACS-B as the standby system.
- When standby ACS-B is in hot standby mode, standby ACS collects the same data as the
(control mode) ACS-A.
- In redundant ACS, during startup, for ACS that started afterwards, there is a function that tracks
the ACS data from the one started first.
For example, if ACS-B is restarted while ACS-A is running, the data missed by ACS-B during restart will be
loaded from ACS-A to ACS-B.
- In general, operation of ACS is prohibited while plant is working.
(To prevent data failure due to overloading.)
[OPS]
- Operates/monitors the plant.
- To display mid/long term trend data saved in ACS using OPS, load the control system ACS data.
- Tuning Parameter can be performed.
The parameters of elements within the logic that is being calculated in MPS can be changed
directly.
(After tuning parameters, upload to EMS the contents that were changed.)

1. System Basic Configuration – (2) Device Descriptions (2/2)

[DFPC]
- DFPC should be used to extract data using external media such as USB memory, etc.

- Data will be automatically/manually transferred to DFPC via ACS.

- In L3SW, the settings were made to restrict sending data from DFPC to ACS/OPS/EMS.

- During automatic transmission of data, an alarm will be generated if the empty space of DFPC
reaches the set warning value.

[Printer]
- Whenever printing is executed from any PC, settings were made to print out from Printer 1.

- Reports that are printed automatically in regular intervals are set to print out from Printer 2.

- You can also choose Printer 2 when printing, irrespective of Printer 1 condition.

[MPS Panel]
- Panel in which MPS is installed.

[I/O Panel]
- Panel in which I/O modules are installed but not MPS.

1. System Basic Configuration – (3) D-Ring Network (1/2)

DIASYS Netmation® has adopted "D-Ring Network" as the input/output network from
B54SP6 onward.

 D-Ring Network
- Ring-shaped network
- D-ring network devices (nodes: SSCG, IOA, SCG) connected in a ring shape
- Dual configuration (A ring, B ring)
- Constant reception of IO signal from both A and B ring via SIOS in the MPS chassis
to the CPU card
- Bridge configuration of D-Ring networks possible by using SCGs

3. Control Panel Overview
– (2) Components within the Panel (3/3)
Name Type Purpose
example
(1) Switching power supply This supplies power to MPS, the IOA backplane (for SSCG/for IOA), and the IOM
backplane (for the IO modules).
(2) CPU power supply CPDDA31 This supplies +5 V, +3.3 V power to each card of MPS.
(3) CPU card CPCPU41 The control data including logic sheets and each type of hardware configuration are
stored and computed here. Also, the mutual status of each CPU (CPU-A & CPU-B)
will be monitored for bumpless operation.
MPS

(4) Ethernet interface card CPETH02 This card is used for data communication (by Ethernet) to each PC.

(5) SIOS card CPIOS01 This monitors the status of the PC for both control & standby CPU cards. Also, this
intermediates reception of the IO signal for MPS from the D-Ring Network.
(6) SSCG LSSCG02 This is one of the D-Ring Network nodes that is a module to transmit/receive IO
signals with SIOS.
(7) SCG LSSCG01 This is a module to be used as the bridge when configuring Remote IO.
Connections from one SCG on the CPU side to three SCGs on the remote side can
D Ring

be made.
Also, IO modules can be placed under the SCG on the remote side.
(8) IOA LSIOA01 This intermediates signal transmissions between the D-Ring Network and the IO
modules under the D-Ring Network.
(9) I/O module LSAIM01, etc. This inputs/outputs the signals and converts the analog/digital signals between the
controller and plant.
(10) IOA backplane LSADB01 SSCG and IOA are placed in the IOA backplane, and the IO modules are placed in
(11) the IOM backplane. By connecting the IOM backplane with a terminal block and
IOM backplane LSIOB01
signal wires from the plant, signals are transmitted between the IO module and the
plant devices.

Because "FAILURE - TRACKING DATA RECEIVING" is detected earlier than "FAILURE - TRACKING DATA
TRANSMITTING", when the control side tracking cable is disconnected, the transition of operations will be in
same as when the tracking cable is disconnected on the standby side (Example 2-1).
In order to avoid the discrepancy during CPU switching, monitor if there is any data mismatch with control side's data.

Example: The transition of operations when the duplicated cable (control side) is disconnected
(1) Disconnection of duplicated cable on the Control side (CPU-A)
(2) The SIOS card on the side that the duplicated cable was disconnected detects disconnection.
(3) The "SYS_0124 [CPU-A] FAILURE - DISCONNECT CONNECTOR FOR SYSTEM I/O MODULE" alarm
generates (when the duplicated cable on the CPU-A side is disconnected.)
⇒ The folded pin of the duplicated cable connector part helps the SIOS card to detect disconnection of the I/O connector.
(4) The "SYS_0004 [CPU-A] FAILURE" alarm generates.
(5) The "SYS_2091 [CPU-B] A-CPU FAILURE" alarm generates.
⇒ This is the alarm that CPU-B, which switched to the control side, uses to notify of a A-CPU FAILURE during Failure.
(Supplemental note) This alarm was created because when the CPU-A FAILURE occurs, the alarm to notify of a CPU-A Failure
cannot be generated by CPU-A.
(6) When the disconnected duplicated cable is detected, CPU-A, which is in the control mode, will be under Failure.
CPU-B, which was in standby mode, will switch to control mode (standby ⇒ control).

When "the duplicated cable (CPU status monitoring cable) is disconnected", the CPU side where the
disconnection is detected will be under "Failure".

7-1. 24 VDC Power Supply Cable

This section describes where wires of the 24 VDC power supply cable that connects to each
backplane will be connected to.
The connector has a specific insertion direction to prevent improper connections. However, an
error in wiring may result in serious repercussions on the equipment. Therefore, pay extra
attention to the pin assignment when you check the connections.

 Limitation of wire length

When a limitation is not set for the length that is used in the thermal power plant in
general, it is considered "No limitation".
In addition, the total amount of field wire resistance and load resistance to be connected
to a module is defined as a general specification.
It is within the range of the maximum load resistance.

(1) Module Terminal Block External Wiring: Precautions When Connecting (4/8)

LSAIM04 Limitation of Wire Length (various types of thermo-couples and limitations of wire
length for the extension lead wire) 1/2
The current for the open circuit detection (field wiring) is measured at approximately
Burn Up : 0.2 uA
Burn Down : 0.07 uA. Based on this, we consider the "maximum wire length of the extension lead
wire" to be limited to 0.2 uA.

In the line resistance of the extension lead wire, the voltage of the detected current is added to the
primary electromotive force of the thermocouple.
Therefore, the resistance value of the extension lead wire that can cause a change over the
accuracy range of the specifications is calculated, and the "wire length to be limited (m)" is
calculated by the individual type of the extension lead wire.

How to read the table:

(1) In the "used measurement temperature range",
(2) Check that the "wiring resistance value (Ω) to be changed" is the lowest value,
(3) Check the nominal cross-sectional area (mm2) for each type of extension lead wire, and then
(4) Check the wire length to be limited (m).

<The wire length to be limited is the equivalent length

to a half of the reciprocating wire.>

(1) Module Terminal Block External Wiring: Precautions When Connecting (5/8)

LSAIM04 Limitation of Wire Length (various types of thermo-couples and limitations of

wire length for the extension lead wire) 2/2
Example) In the case of Type E of TC, it is considered that:
(1) When the temperature range from -150 C up to 799 C is measured,
(2) The wire resistance (Ω) to be changed is 180 Ω at the minimum.
(3) Therefore, if the extension lead wire to be used is the BC type and 0.5 mm2,
(4) A field wire up to 2250 m long can be placed.
* For TC, though there are Type E, Type J, Type K, Type T, and Type R,
only Type E is described in this document as an example.

10. Examples of Troubles

© MITSUBISHI HITACHI POWER SYSTEMS, LTD. All Rights Reserved. 108

10. Examples of Troubles (1/2)

Error information Possible cause of abnormality

1 Abnormal adapter Individual failure or failure due to the in-rush current from the external line.
Check whether cable connector is disconnected.
2 Abnormal I/O module Individual failure or failure due to the contact of metals to the signal pins of
module while it is taken out. Deterioration over time.
* After taking out the I/O module, place it over an anti-static sheet so that
metals don't get in contact with connector pins.
[How to Manage] Check the voltage of the abnormal module. (Check the
voltage between the COM-V of the terminal base; 24 VDC or 48 VDC.)
* When the output module is abnormal, unplug the module and then plug it
back in once.
The terminal block No. to be checked may vary depending on the type of
the terminal block.
3 Abnormal CPU Network abnormality, CPU card memory abnormality.
4 CPU power supply failure Output voltage drop due to deterioration over time. Individual failure or
failure due to the in-rush current from the external line. Replace with a new
power supply.
5 Compact flash access error Data damage due to power shutdown while being loaded. Deterioration
over time. It is necessary to replace to the compact flash that is set
exclusively for the client.
6 CPU battery voltage low Deterioration over time. Normally, it is replaced in the regular inspection
when the remaining capacity is below the specification.
If the battery low alarm is displayed, replace it with a new battery at the
time of MPS shutdown.

10. Examples of Troubles (2/2)

Error information Cause

7 PCI3.3V power supply failure If MPS power supply (3.3 V) is below the tolerance level, carefully
adjust the voltage by using the adjustment screw of the MPS power
supply until voltage is within the tolerance range.
8 OPS/EMS abnormalities Individual failure or failure due to forced shutdown (HDD, Ethernet
card, etc.)
9 Failure of accessory units Individual failure (HUB (port failure) or whole HUB fault)
such as the HUB
10 Trend data failure PC memory failure

11 Temperature within the CPU The temperature within the CPU exceeds 100 ℃ due to clogging of
exceeds the upper limit MPS filter or the cabinet filter.
* Clean the filter periodically.
(The risk of the substrate failure increases as the temperature within
the panel rises.)

11-1. Maintenance Items
– (1) Cleaning the CPU Fan Filters (1/5)
The frequency of cleaning differs depending on the environment. However, clean the
fan filter periodically. (Standard method to judge the clogging is by using your hands.
Touch the bottom part of the filter. If you do not feel the suction, it needs to be
cleaned.)
[Reason]
If the fan filter is excessively dirty (clogged), the cooling efficiency of the substrate in
MPS will drop. Thus, the internal temperature will become high.
If the temperature within the MPS is high, the CPU will experience a Failure.
Furthermore, the possibility of each substrate getting damaged due to high
temperature becomes higher.
[Possible alarms generated due to clogging]
SYS_0134 [CPU-A] CPU INTERNAL TEMPERATURE
TOO HIGH
SYS_2134 [CPU-B] CPU INTERNAL TEMPERATURE
TOO HIGH
SYS_0004 [CPU-A] FAILURE - CPU FAILURE
SYS_2004 [CPU-B] FAILURE - CPU FAILURE

Places that need to be cleaned -2

Places that need to be cleaned -1

The temperature will become high due to the clogging of the MPS filter, and the possibility of each substrate getting damaged will rise.

11-1. Maintenance Items
– (2) How to Adjust the CPU Power Supply
Spots to check the voltage Voltage adjustment screw
(Increase voltage: Turn to the right, Decrease
voltage: Turn to the left)
(Adjust using the adjustment driver)

How to Adjust CPDDA21, CPDDA31, and CPDDA41

[+5 VDC adjustment]
(1) Check the voltage between the +5 V Pin ↔ GND Pin.
(2) Using the voltage adjustment screw, adjust the voltage within the
adjustment range.
(Adjustment range: 5.0 V to 5.2 V)
[+3.3 VDC adjustment]
(1) Check the voltage between the +3.3 V Pin ↔ GND Pin.
(2) Using the voltage adjustment screw, adjust the voltage within the
adjustment range.
(Adjustment range: 3.30 V to 3.43 V)
* When there is an allowance in the adjustment screw,
adjust it with a high value (the maximum value of the
adjustment range). When there is no allowance in the
adjustment screw, adjust it with a lower value (almost the
lowest value within the adjustment range). When the lowest
value cannot be adjusted, consider replacement of the
power supply.

[Note] Over-turning the voltage adjustment screw when increasing the voltage results in a CPU power supply unit failure.
When increasing the voltage, check the current value using a tester and turn the bolt to the left (decrease voltage) using the
adjustment driver. After checking the rate of voltage change through the amount of turning, adjust the voltage by turning to the right
(increase voltage).

After the first torque check, use a black pen. For the second check, draw a line on the screw with a red pen. In the
end, this decreases the risk of forgetting the torque check by checking the lines for all screws.
Make sure to check the torque after checking that there are no spaces between the screws and terminal blocks.
(When the terminal block screw for the power supply line is tightened in the slanted position, it may cause a fire.)

[DIASYS Netmation System Security Policies]

A healthy system environment can be maintained by separating it from other

networks and other external media.

12. Security – (2) Security Countermeasures for H/W (2/2)

1. In DIASYS Netmation, data extraction is

restricted to only DFPC as per security policy.

2. Since the router is installed between

DFPC and monitoring & control network of
plant, even if the DFPC gets infected with
virus, the monitoring & control network is not
affected.

3. By storing the data collected by EMS/OPS

(including logs, etc.) in the automatic
forwarding folder in ACS via the network, the
stored data is automatically forwarded to the
DFPC. (It may vary depending on the system
specifications.)

4. In principle, the ACS operation is

prohibited during the operation of the plant.
Therefore, do not check the data such as
CSV files on ACS, but on the DFPC.

12. Security – (3) Security Countermeasures for S/W

1. A username & password can be set for every user, so that designation of user
will be known by their username when logged in to the system.
Furthermore, as operation rights for different functions can be assigned for
every user, so the operable range of each user can be limited.

Example) Operator level ⇒ (Operation only)

Maintenance personnel ⇒ (Can change settings and adjust
parameters)
Administrator level ⇒ (Can change the logic)

2. Disabling Ctrl+Alt+Del function (OPS Only)

⇒ By disabling, the Work Space Manager window of the OPS can be closed
only through operations on the Work Space Manager window. Therefore,
each user designation can be identified by the login management.
Additionally, because a user without the administrative right to close WSM
will not be able to close it, virus infection through unnecessary file loading
can be prevented.

12. Security – (4) Conceivable Infection Routes - (1/2)

Network Related Infection Routes

(1) Network Transmission

⇒ Through another computer connected to DIASYS Netmation system
network.
[Countermeasure]
- Never connect an external computer to the DIASYS Netmation system
network, even for a short time.

(2) File Transfer Via Control Network

⇒ A certain file, which is outside the DIASYS Netmation system is loaded.
[Countermeasure]
- Do not load a file that is not related to the DIASYS Netmation system to a
computer (OPS/EMS/ACS) in the DIASYS Netmation network.
- Do not install software that is not a part of system specifications,
including software obtained from the network, such as calendars and
memo functions. Carelessly installing software might cause troubles
other than virus infection.

Memory Media Related Infection Routes

(1) CD-RW/DVD-RW/Floppy Disc and Other Disc Media

(2) USB Memory, Compact Flash Drive and Other Memory Media

[Countermeasure]
(1) Use a floppy disc, CD-R/DVD-R that has not been used yet.
(2) Use USB and other memory media that were checked for viruses with
a PC that has been installed with the latest virus scan software.
(3) When there is a DFPC, always extract the data from the DFPC.

[Note]
Do not restart the PC when any type of memory media is mounted to the PC
drive.
