Activity 1. Name the colours.

Activity 2. Answer the questions.
1. What is your favourite colour? My favourite colour is ______.
2. Which colour do you prefer to wear*?
3. How many animals/pets do you have?
4. What is your favourite animal?
* The verb “ to wear” is used when talking about clothes (Example: a white t-shirt.)
Activity 3. Each participant mentions the color(s) of the flags from their countries.
Examples:
Portugal: green and red. Spain: red and yellow. Sweden: blue and yellow.
Activity 4. Practice with participants the following patterns. You can introduce both the singular
and plural form, so they practice the verb “to be”, seen in the previous session. Examples:
Singular: Plural
The pig is pink. The pigs are pink.
The cow is brown. The cows are brown.
The dog is white. The dogs are white.
The fish is orange. The fish are orange.
The sheep is white. The sheeps are white.
The horse is brown. The horses are brown.
The parrot is green, yellow and blue. The parrots are green, yellow and blue.
The chick is yellow. The chicks are yellow.
The elephant is grey. The elephants are grey.

4. Grammar: the verb “ to have”
Read the following sentences and to guess in which cases we use “have” and has”.
“Malta has colourful fishing boats. They are pink, red and violet.”
“Fishermen have traditional boats.”
“You have toothpaste on your chin. It’s white.”
“He has new blue hair. ”

5. Question Words in English
WHO is only used when referring to people. ( I want to know the person)
WHERE is used when referring to a place or location. (I want to know the place)
HOW is used to describe the manner that something is done. (I want to know the way)

IMPORTANT: How old are you? I am ____ years old.
HOW MANY is used when we want to know the quantity of something. It’s always used with plural,
countable nouns:
● How many animals do you have? I have two cats and one dog.
● How many brothers and sisters do you have? I have two brothers and one sister.
Exercise: Ask a question to someone in the group using ‘what’, ‘who’, ‘where’, ‘when’, ‘why’, ‘how’
or ‘how many’. Examples:
How many? How many languages do you speak? I speak _______ languages.
How many pets/animals do you have? I have ________animals.
