India to host National Delphic Games for Arts and Cultures in 2023
 The International Delphic Council, based in Berlin, Germany has announced the National
Delphic Games in India to be hosted in 2023.
 25 Indian states have already come together with State Delphic Councils to represent their
unique cultures and arts and eminent personalities.
 The winners will represent India at the International Delphic Games which will be hosted in
2026.
R Pragganandhaa wins Reykjavik Open chess tournament
 Young Indian Grandmaster R Pragganandhaa won the prestigious Reykjavik Open chess
tournament with 7.5 points from nine rounds, in April 2022.
 The 16-year-old Pragganandhaa defeated Grandmaster D Gukesh in the final round to
emerge the sole winner.
 He became the youngest international master in 2016 at the age of 10 years, 10 months, and
19 days.
Shehbaz Sharif elected as Pakistan’s new Prime Minister
 Pakistan’s parliament has elected Shehbaz Sharif as the country’s new Prime Minister
following the removal of Imran Khan in a vote of no confidence.
 He will now form a new government that can remain in place until August 2023, when
general elections are due.
 No Prime Minister has ever completed a five-year term in office during the country’s nearly
75-year history.
PM Modi to be honoured with Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award
 PM Narendra Modi will be honored with the first-ever Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award.
 The award has been instituted in the memory of the veteran singer who passed away in
February 2022.
 The award ceremony will be held on 24 April 2022 in Mumbai.
 The award will be given annually to a person who has made a path-breaking, spectacular
and exemplary contribution to the nation and its people.
A new book “The Boy Who Wrote a Constitution” released
 A new book “The Boy Who Wrote a Constitution”, was released on the occasion of Dr BR
Ambedkar’s 131st birth anniversary on 14 April 2022.
 It seeks to inform children of the challenging boyhood and growing up years of India’s first
law minister Dr BR Ambedkar.
 The fact-based drama is written by noted playwright and author Rajesh Talwar.

UDAN scheme selected for Prime Minister’s Award
 Civil Aviation Ministry flagship Regional Connectivity Scheme - 'Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik',
UDAN has been selected for Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration
2020.
 It will be awarded under the category Innovation (General) - Central.
 The Ministry of Civil Aviation will receive the award on 21 April 2022, that is, Civil Service
Day.
Jnanpith Award presented to Assamese poet Nilamani Phookan
 Eminent Assamese poet Nilamani Phookan has conferred the 56th Jnanpith Award on 11
April 2022, the ceremony of which was held for the first time in Assam.
 He is also a recipient of the Sahitya Akademi and Padma Shri awards.
 Phookan is the third Assamese to receive the Jnanpith Award after novelist Birendra Kumar
Bhattacharya (1979) and Mamoni Raisom Goswami (2000).
Australia's Victoria state to host 2026 Commonwealth Games
 The Australian state of Victoria will host the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
 The 2026 Games will be held in four regional hubs in the towns of Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo
and Gippsland.
 The state has confirmed 16 sports for the Games so far, including aquatics, cycling, and
Twenty20 cricket.
 The 2022 Commonwealth Games are due to be held in Birmingham, England, from July 28 to
August 8, 2022.
Mumbai recognized as ‘Tree City of the World’ by United Nations
 Mumbai has been recognized as the "2021 Tree City of the World" by the food and
agriculture organization of united nations jointly with Arbor Day Foundation.
 It is the second city in India to receive this distinction, after Hyderabad, which bagged the
title two years in a row.
 Mumbai has planted a total of 4,25,000 trees and has been accredited with 25,000
volunteer hours.
