INTRODUCTION;-
LEADERSHIP STYLE;-

After going through all the leadership styles, the most suitable style for Lord
Krishna is the “Transformational Leadership” style. It is a leadership approach that
creates valuable and positive change in the followers with the end goal of
developing followers into leaders. It enhances followers' motivation, morale, and
performance through various mechanisms which include connecting the
follower's sense of identity and self to the mission and the collective identity of
the organization/society; being a role model for followers that inspires them;
challenging followers to take greater ownership of their work, and understanding
the strengths and weaknesses of them, so the leader can align followers with
tasks that optimize their performance.
There are 4 I’s in this type of leadership style: -
1. Individualized Consideration- The leader gives empathy and support, keeps
communication open, and places challenges before the followers.

2. Intellectual Stimulation- Leaders with this style stimulate and encourage

creativity in their followers. They nurture and develop people who think
independently. For such a leader, learning is a value and unexpected
situations are seen as opportunities to learn. The followers ask questions,
think deeply about things and figure out better ways to execute their tasks.

3. Inspirational Motivation- Leaders with inspirational motivation challenge

followers with high standards, communicate optimism about future goals,
and provide meaning for the task at hand. Followers need to have a strong
sense of purpose if they are to be motivated to act.

4. Idealized Influence- Act as a role model for high ethical behaviour, instils
pride, and gain respect, and trust.
Some of the leadership traits shown by Lord Krishna are as follows: -
1. Team Player- He engages his allies as well as his team members through
dialogue, interview, discussion, storytelling as well as other communication
modes. He builds up a team of senior skilled professionals who contribute
to the decision-making process as was clearly evident in the inner circle of
Pandavas during the Mahabharata war.

2. Mentoring- Lord Krishna is the ultimate mentor, coach, and guide. Example-
He narrated the Bhagawad Gita to Arjun prior to the battle of Kurukshetra
to help him clear his doubts and to make him perform his Karma.

3. Foresight- Krishna has a great sense of foresight and throughout the battle
of Kurukshetra, we can find examples of Krishna’s foresightedness - be it
preparing Shikadini for the final battle with Bhishma or sending the
Pandavas to various Gurus during their exile to help them master the crafts.

4. Commitment to the growth of people- During their period of exile, Lord

Krishna suggested Arjuna to start collecting blessings and weapons from
various Gods, very well knowing that this would appear beneficial during
the war. Lord Krishna, time and again provided valuable guidance to the
Pandavas ensuring their growth and development holistically.

5. Goal-oriented- His goals were-

· Paritranaya Sadhunam : Deliver the pious; Welfare for ood .

· Vinashaya Cha dushkritam : Annihilate the miscreants (Destroy the evil .
· Dharma - Samastha-panarthaya : (re-establish the good principles)
The Goals of life were clear to Lord Krishna, that’s why he could completely focus
on it & achieve them finally.
1. Active listener- Lord Krishna is a master listener; who patiently listens to
Arjuna with utmost attention and care. The Gita knowledge, delivered by
the Almighty helped Arjuna to cast away his grief and focus on fighting the
war earnestly.

2. Strategic and Critical Thinking- Mahabharata is a testimony to the strategic

acumen of Lord Krishna. Each and every event in the epic has been
orchestrated by Krishna to achieve the ultimate goal. He is adept at utilising
the strengths of his team while exploiting the weakness of the opponents.
Krishna through his strategic acumen ensures victory for the Pandavas over
a vastly superior Kaurava Army without having to lift any weapon himself.

Krishna encourages action: -
Never quit attitude: -In the famous battle of Kurukshetra, When Arjuna was in a dilemma about
whether to fight or not, Krishna did not approve of Arjuna’s decision to retire from the battle
and renounce the duties abruptly. On the contrary, he gave strength to Arjuna to fight so that
Arjuna would become victorious.
Krishna himself led the life of an ideal householder, followed all the religious and dharmic
principles like waking up early in the morning, and performed Vedic activities in the Brahma
Muhurta time. An ordinary person should follow this act of Krishna to wake up early and
