In Spain and Spanish America outstanding figure celebrates on April 23 the DAY OF THE

LANGUAGE, in honor in memory of Don Miguel of Cervantes Saavedra, in the Castilian letters of all

and a series of prominent figures in those who fit the faults, the virtues, the weaknesses and
aspirations of the human life, Miguel of Cervantes was deserving the title of “Prince of the Spanish
Ingenuities ".

The aim of the Day of the Spanish Language while it is to
give impulse to this language and to his correct
implementation, promoting his utilization beyond the
educational institutions.
The Day of the Spanish Language has his origin in the year
1926, when the Valencian writer Vicente Clavel Andrés
proposed the idea of a special day to celebrate the
literature. The tradition began in Valencia and was spread
gradually in the whole Spain. In 1964, the celebration was
adopted as all the Spanish-speaking countries. On April 23
there is celebrated the World Day of the Spanish Language
in honor the writer Michael of Cervantes Saavedra, who
died on April 23, 1616 and whose novel " The Ingenious
Nobleman Don Quijote of the Spot " is considered to be the
greatest work of the Spanish language. In the same date,
but of the calendar juliano, died William Shakespeare. Also
they died in the different years, the Peruvian Inca Garcilaso
of the Vega and Vladimir Nabokov (in 1899). In some
countries it is commemorated simultaneously the Day of
the Book.

This commemoration tries not to help to spread and give


only impulse to the use of this language, but to promote his
healthy utilization, must not have an exclusively academic
and school character, but on the contrary, must spread to
all the sectors of the company, because the defense of the
language, his care and correct use induce to support the
cultural traditions of a people, since it is an element of
identification cultural that concerns the group.
The whole transmission of ideas and the intellectual
contacts, the interpretation of bibliographies and oral and
written mass media, as well as the conversation and daily
exchange of pareceres, has a base jointly: the language;
element indispensable and loaded with array author of
novels of manners.
