Objectives

The purpose of this case study is to discuss the following issues:

 Open innovation concepts and a crowdsourcing model.

 Both crowdsourcing methods: tournaments based and collaboration based.
 The role of a web-based collaborative platform within a crowdsourcing project.
 Review the innovation used by Fiat Mio, according to the classification in the
Oslo Manual.

Description

These questions are intended to help students focus on the key elements as they
read the case.

 Analyze the open innovation used by Fiat Mio. What evidence within the case
study indicates that Fiat Mio used this innovation? Discuss the evidence and
justify why the evidence indicates that it has open innovation features.
 What are the main differences between the crowdsourcing projects managed by
InnoCentive and Fiat Mio?
 What types of innovation are addressed in this case study? There are four types
of innovation according to the classification in the Oslo Manual. Base your
response on these types and justify it.
 If Fiat Mio was simply a prototype that would never be produced or marketed,
what would be the actual innovation?

Evaluation criteria

The evaluation criteria will be as follows:

 Analysis of applying open or closed innovation to an organization.

 Analysis of the crowdsourcing innovation model and its variants.
 Analysis of innovations introduced by an organization and their classification
according to the Oslo Manual.
 Analysis of the innovations involved in implementing an innovative project.

Bibliography:

The work should include a bibliography section in the 7th edition of APA format, that
is, with the details of all bibliographic references referenced in the case resolution
memory. Plagiarism should not be performed. Therefore, any appointment must be
referenced correctly. If plagiarism is detected in more than one question, the
Coordination of the degree shall be reported as a serious fault.

Academic criteria should be followed when raising references:

 All works referenced in the text that answers the above questions should appear
in the bibliography.
 All bibliography works must be referenced in your text.

Do not include any additional bibliography section, where more interesting, related
works are provided as additional reading.

The bibliography should focus on references cited in the text used to answer
questions in the case.

Maximum length: The document should have a maximum 8 pages, not counting the
cover page, index and bibliography, as well as 5 slides with the first slide describing
the group participants and one slide per question. Font: Calibri 11; Line spacing: 1.5.
