Context
The case study assesses students’ understanding of entrepreneurship, entrepreneurs,
innovation, creativity and design thinking, as well as their written communication skills.

Instructions
Assessment Tasks:

Students will be required to select an entrepreneur (such as Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos, for
example), collect relevant information from various sources, and provide a detailed analysis
of how the activities of the selected entrepreneur compare to the principles covered in the
subject materials and other academic sources (primarily peer-reviewed journal articles and
textbooks) in relation to entrepreneurship, entrepreneurs, innovation, creativity and design
thinking.
The following issues should be addressed in your case analysis:
a) Compare the key activities undertaken by your selected entrepreneur with those
considered (in the academic literature) to comprise entrepreneurship.
b) Compare the key attributes or characteristics of your selected entrepreneur with those
considered (in the academic literature) to identify an entrepreneur.
c) Compare the types of innovation undertaken by your selected entrepreneur (including the
key components) with those identified in two or three different typologies of innovation,
such as those identified on pages 19-22 of your recommended textbook.
d) Based on frameworks from the literature, such as those discussed on pages 77-93 of your
textbook, explain how your selected entrepreneur encouraged and facilitated creativity
within the organisation s/he established as part of her/his entrepreneurial journey.
e) Based on frameworks from the literature, explain whether or not your selected
entrepreneur appears to have used design thinking principles within her/his

entrepreneurial journey.
f) Based on your above analysis, provide an overall comparison of your selected entrepreneur
and her/his entrepreneurial journey to key principles covered in the literature (in the above
areas). Explain the significance of any key differences.

The report should be presented in the following manner:


• An assignment cover page
• Heading page for each item to be addressed
• Use 12 pt. font
• State your name, student number and word count in the document header
• Include a reference list complying with the APA referencing style at the end of the portfolio.

You will be assessed against criteria as outlined in the AT1 Case study marking rubric.
